Default Best Track Time in a 718 GT4

This is a thread that I started and maintain in the 981 section, that I am carrying over to the 718's. Post your 718 lap times and videos here.

Recently, we had our first 718 GT4 contributor - Weswood ran his PDK equipped 718 at Barber Motorsports Park and reported a lap time of 1:41.43 in a stock 718 with only 500 miles on the odometer. As far as I can tell, that may be the first public posting of any PDK 718 track video world wide.

I will post the 718 times on the same leaderboard and update from both this thread and the original thread in the 981 section.

Tell us your Best Track times.

Please post a video if you have it. I am separating 718s the 981s

PLEASE POST AS: TRACK - 718 or GT4 - ELAPSED TIME - DATE - TIRES - MODS

New personal best at COTA on 200TW street tires this weekend, 2:25.98 AiM solo/2:26.04 Garmin. Interesting how close the times are between the AiM and Garmin, I didn't expect the precision especially since they use two different start points. The track is getting bumpy and interesting again after the recent repave, but still a bunch of time on the table with bigger cahones!

718 GT4 PDK at Sebring. My first time tracking the car, and was stock except for Ferodo pads, alignment, and Akrapovic PF delete. My first time at Sebring, so left a lot of time on the table. Had a great time though. 2:26.86 was my fastest, Garmin Catalyst optimal was 2:25.43. Oh, and I had a passenger, so an extra 200 pounds on board. I think I could get my actual down into the 2:24s with a little more time at Sebring. I was braking early and taking conservative lines. Car was fantastic.

Default Road America, 718, 2:52, 10/18/2020, Dunlop Sport Maxx Race 2, Stock

My first time at Road America back in October with the Badger Bimmers. Great organization. Can we make this thread a sticky?

Lots of time left to hack away at. I’m a bit more than 20 seconds off the fastest time on the board from a modified car. Plan to stay stock and see how much we close that gap this season.

I'll add in a new one for High Plains, definitely a bit of work to do but a good first target laid down:

High Plains Raceway - 718 Spyder (Manual) - 2.00.06 - 02-06-2021 - Cup 2's - OEM Spec with +/-1400 miles on the Odo.

posting for my brother

2021 718 Spyder 6MT
2000 miles on odo

Buttonwillow 13CW, 1/16/2021 with Speed District
1:55.58 with traffic and passenger (measured on RaceChrono, using Racelogic GPS receiver)
No Mods 100% stock setup with Cup 2s
No Aids (TC/ESC Off, no Auto Blip)

as is, 54 is easily doable (only did 2 sessions, both with passengers)

will try and see how quick it is at Chuckwalla this coming weekend with same old tires....

Not the best video viewpoint, but here is my fast lap at The Ridge Motorsports Park in Shelton, WA on 4/16/21 in my 2021 718 GT4 with PDK. This was my first time lapping the GT4 and first time running at the Ridge. I have an extensive history in autocross and spent 3 years running in Spec Miata years ago, so not a stranger to tracking.

The car is completely stock aside from an alignment and replacing the brake fluid with Castrol SRF. Even had the stock Cup2s on the car.

Thanks buddy, I love Re71r’s. I’m so lost now that I’m on my last set. I’ve tried Cup 2’s, but I jive much better with these. What tires do you run?

I'm in the same boat as you. I run time trials and need 200 tw tires. I have one set of RE71R Im saving for nationals. I've got a set of supercar 3s and I like them better then cup 2s. I need to get a set of Falken RT660 and decide between the Falken and goodyear, I guess. I've heard good things about the 660 and they have a similar tread pattern to the RE71,.and sound like they have more grip then the sc3. Don't think I'm interested in the A052, but it sounds like they have the most grip. Think they would overheat too quickly.

You're on the right path. A052s are primarily autocross tires, so they heat up quickly but then overheat at the track. Most of my RE-71R customers are running the Supercar 3s and liking them at the track, but they do take longer to heat up for autox. Conversely, no one's been having to spray them down yet, either—but the temps have still been cool around here. I haven't gotten anyone to try the RT660s yet.

I have a set of Nankang AR-1s on 19" wheels for my GT4 that I should be able to run at Thunderhill on May 22. Lots of good track reports on these, but no personal experience yet. (Also keep an eye on their 200 UTQG CR-1s that they're rolling out.)
