New PB at Summit. Did 1 day with Chin last weekend. 1:25.67 with a little traffic. Lap 17 of 18 for the session
My first day on track for the year. Felt great overall and getting more consistent times (several upper 1:25s). Still a long ways to go! Hopefully I will get a few more days in this year.

Well, I didn't quite catch Chris this past weekend at Summit Point, but I did get a new personal best: 1:20.44, only .09 seconds behind him. I didn't remember to hook up my phone to record until Sunday, so I don't have any times for the Saturday runs, which might have been better.
I'll get him next time!
Car is the same setup as last time: 19" Forgeline wheels, RE-71R tires, DSC box, alignment and max stock aero.

Got a clear track for a while before it got too hot and got a couple of personal bests, 1:53.21 was the fastest. Moved the wing and removed the inserts for max aero this time, and also changed the rear sway from full stiff to medium. Seemed to keep the back end settled down when doing that quick braking before bending into turn one. Felt much better, was able to keep much higher speeds through there.
Tires are RE-71s, now completely shot but they had a good life ;-)

Congrats 2fnquik, we have a LEADER!

For you guys on track with the Carbon Fiber LWBS, wearing a helmet/HANS puts your line of site at not the best of angles. We did come up with a solution to this with our seat angle adjusters for those that could use the improvement.

Awesome driving, Bill! You are incredibly smooth and make it look easy.
I was watching some of your shift points. You shift into fifth at the top of the Esses a bit sooner than I ever feel comfortable and you shift into fourth for a bit between T6 and T7. Also want to watch your entry-point line at T7. And it looks like no tap just lift at T10.
Very nice.

Bill, awesome lap!! Getting down to the 2:05's in your car as currently set up is hauling! All corners look good but Turn 10 holds the greatest room for improvement. You're over-braking there. VMin target in that corner should be not less than 90mph. Looks to me like you've got a 2:04 in you!

That is a quick lap time Bill, congrats! Looking forward to getting back up there sometime soon, I've done some AER events at WG but never in the Cayman.

As for Turn 10, it's one of the safest corners at the Glen to push it as long as you DON'T LIFT! Try a slight breath or lift on the throttle before turn-in, no brakes, and a longer apex. You should be able to scrub enough speed in corner entry to hold you through the corner.
Fresher tires will make it all much easier, of course.

I've experimented with holding 4th longer at the top of the Esses and data shows it make no difference as far as max speed into the brake zone. There's a little lull in the action when I shift. I need to use 4th between 6 & 7. At 7 I trail brake just past the 200 mark to almost the apex and try to be patient on turn in. I tap the brakes @ 10 and think it's costing me time. Tried 4th and it seemed sluggish. I need to work more on that corner.

Bill, nice improvement, especially in 6!!!
I concur on 10. Lift and go. I'll run that in 4th due to slightly more speed out of 9 due to a different line.
Regarding 1: here is why you can't go to full throttle sooner: you're not using enough of the apex rumble strip. You need to use every inch of the lower rumble strip. Seriously. Kiss the edge of the higher rumble strip. Not only is the camber better, but it opens your radius and allows you to begin unwinding steering lock sooner, which enables WOT.
Agree on the lift comments 1-2 and 2-3. Leaps of faith.
Also, if you can get down to the apex curbing of 5 sooner, and thus hold it longer, you can use a lot more throttle in there.
All of these are worth notable time.
I'll be there Sept 18-19.
