I had been looking for a shop to enable the Mirror Tilt in Reverse. I was quoted $1500 for parts and labor and there was no guarantee for success. I started looking at coding this myself. Credit to rnls_log for helping my out and providing the tool to accomplish this. He helped me almost 20 years ago with the BMW coding. Let's share our knowledge and save some money for other mods. I'll start by sharing my Mirror Tilt in Reverse coding. Settings are in the Kombi and Tuer Vorne Left and Right modules

Reason: Adding an Index for feature coding.

That requires a motor on top of coding. Other things like keyless start or open the windows and top using the fob (different meaning for the regular Boxster and Spyder) might be available from PIWIS.
I don't have the car yet, but on simulation PIWIS 3 shows wireless track app as an option. I wonder if that extends to wireless CarPlay. I'll know more in September (hopefully)

I'm interested in enabling key fob open/close of the top and windows on my BGTS. Dealer was no help.

My bad, I had in my head that it was regarding folding mirror. It's bizarre that the car won't tilt down on reverse. I've seen that in the 992 coding list, it's likely there for the 718 as well.
Most dealers are not coding friendly, either because they don't know or can't be bothered to learn.

It's likely there, for the 992 it is, but the latter requires a different fob with an extra button. I've seen European testers showing the latch/unlatch and trunk operation via fob for the Spyder with a long press. Hopefully it's the same in the US.
Meanwhile, other Boxster models can benefit from a smarttop module.
Yes 992 has more modules and many more settings. I got a headache looking at it.
And the simulation doesn't tell how the coding actually happens when you plug it in. My battery is crapped out so even with a proper charger plugged in, I get low voltage in some modules and I can't write to them. Some stuff you code and it doesn't apply, I think because of market limitations. Not to mention to whole matrix and start/stop malarkey.
We did a long thread on the cayenne and 992 coding.

Still working on the Start/Stop, Passenger Airbag light etc... I was able to install the NAV too but that required some help getting the right files. Trying to get the traffic notice to update thru WLAN and not Car Connect
I have a PIWIS 3, which I haven't used much - but did own a PIWIS 2 at one point and used it to help code/fix a lot of things on my old 987. Had to get the 3 to be able to talk to the newer cars. I've found that there isn't a lot of knowledge being shared out there - the guys who know their way around the PIWIS aren't sharing (because it's also part of their business....)
Two things I have figured out:
if you have an iPhone (this may exist on the Android), download the Google Translate app. It has a mode where you use the camera on your phone, can point it at text, and it will translate the text for you. Helpful for going through some of these German menus!
The PIWIS version matters. So if/when posting the coding changes - be sure to post which version of PIWIS you're on. Seems that as the newer versions roll out, coding options are removed. My PIWIS 3 came with 2 partitions: a v40.xxx and a v38.xx. There are a LOT more options available for coding in v38 than v40... and I suspect if you can find someone to sell you something older than v38, you should probably do it. I haven't looked too hard but it's something I'll look into once I actually get a few other projects done
Spyder does open windows, unlatch top, and pop trunk with long press of unlock on FOB, but it doesn't close windows/latch roof from FOB.
If it opens up the windows, then the close windows setting is there too. I know that this was disabled in my previous BMW's maybe because of US regulation. Euro cars have a lot of those features enabled.
