..

You do realise a 993 is an "old banger"?

Yeah. But she was a near new car when I purchased her 16 years ago :-)

Dan has opened the box. The diagnosis is a broken 3/4 selector rod. Very unusual. It would appear that the box locked up when the rod end fell off. So far that's the only damage.

Sounds like good news John? Be interesting to understand potential causes of breakage - I take it the connecting rods are original?

Certainly better news than multiple parts damaged. Still a mystery how the rod would snap like that. It just moves back and forward.

looks like the same one I've been following as it was a tip to manual conversion from hkg. lots of work would have gone into it to then sell. the big reds pop nicely on a silver car.

You sure he's not related to Macca?? Would actually be a honey of a car to export. Nice find Paul. Only criticism is its sitting a bit high in the rear.

Interesting beast Paul. Probably as close to mine as I have seen yet. Probably a little bit less developed on the suspension side but a bit more on the gearbox. I have more "investment" in the interior.

$135K AUD seems high tho for a 128k km car ex HK and tipo conversion. Australia is mad!

We will get a chance to test that theory at the NITT. I should have the engine AFR optimised by then, so more power, and a new set of Z221s to put it down to the Tarmac.

Promises, promises. NITT is almost 10 months away John and half the RSG fleet will have changed hands again by then lol! We are all growing old. Time is short...

On a serious note. That rod breakage seems very odd. If not a metallurgy issue then an issue of obstruction perhaps. I'd do lots of looking around on RL but also more on Pelican to see if others have had similar issue and what it could be. I have no idea but wouldn't have thought it's a wear item? Hopefully can be sorted out quickly but at who's cost?

Felt uncomfortable reading this post - hauntingly Déjà vu for me - resorting a polar/classic grey 993.

I have all the same photos and experiences (except the tipo conversion)
