@ Macca - banners delivered to Dean
@ Peter - Dean couldn't estimate the cost of getting the pins welded. He confirmed it was all about labour and said an engine drop was required. He stopped at that point.....

I'd say we're talking Monday or Tuesday next week. They want to do some quality control first i.e. a shake down. I know there are no guarantees with machines, but all of this work gives me confidence I will have trouble free motoring, engine-wise, for many years.

for road driving the engine will last forever. for competition use it really depends on luck and how hard u rev it (mistakes aside) I reckon wear rate becomes much higher at the last 500 revs at the top. My last rebuild on the rally car only lasted 9 full race days plus 1 day testing. Was getting a bit of oil past the valves into 1 cylinder, and upon teardown the main bearing was wearing too. Bit of a bugger!

Yes, absolutely fizzing. I have barely driven this car since buying it. It's been at Contis for close to 3 months. I have a ducktail to fit, plus a set of Hankook shoed Fuchs, then all I need is the suspension set up. I won't be bothering you any time soon but I should be lifting my game and sniping at a few back runners soon enough.
