Can't say I'd fancy the prospect of touring the SI with that!! Great for HD though

@ Macca - banners delivered to Dean

@ Peter - Dean couldn't estimate the cost of getting the pins welded. He confirmed it was all about labour and said an engine drop was required. He stopped at that point.....

I'd say we're talking Monday or Tuesday next week. They want to do some quality control first i.e. a shake down. I know there are no guarantees with machines, but all of this work gives me confidence I will have trouble free motoring, engine-wise, for many years.

for road driving the engine will last forever. for competition use it really depends on luck and how hard u rev it (mistakes aside) I reckon wear rate becomes much higher at the last 500 revs at the top. My last rebuild on the rally car only lasted 9 full race days plus 1 day testing. Was getting a bit of oil past the valves into 1 cylinder, and upon teardown the main bearing was wearing too. Bit of a bugger!

Tracking your hours on the track helps too. 100hrs or so at full noise and you'll want to be testing oil and running a leakdown.

Yes, absolutely fizzing. I have barely driven this car since buying it. It's been at Contis for close to 3 months. I have a ducktail to fit, plus a set of Hankook shoed Fuchs, then all I need is the suspension set up. I won't be bothering you any time soon but I should be lifting my game and sniping at a few back runners soon enough.

Paul must be back on the road soon too. If I recall hes been off the road probably longer than John. Maybe 4 months?

Does it really take this long in NZ to rebuild an engine?

Now that's a loaded question- lol

Perhaps NZ is on the same "island time" as the rest of the Pacific?
