Mines got the standard Bilsteins plus some progressive lowering springs (not the H&Rs). They were set up by Peter Alder as a compromise between road and track. However the thing that made the biggest difference to feel on track (for the C4) is the adjustable RS sway bars - full soft up front and full hard at the rear.

That's dialled out all of the inherent understeer (in the dry!) and means it turns in like a dream. I'd rate that change as the single biggest fun factor - after sticky tyres of course. Note that suspension for the C2 can be set quite different. Dave's KWv3s are a big advance on what I have - yet I'm not tempted to change for some reason!

"Standard bilstein" = B6 (not coilover system B10-PSS10)

Big improvement over factory.

Im fairly certain Johns shocks are re valved versions of the same.,

The KWv3 is a coilover system

You have the luxury of running 4 to 5 seconds faster than the next 964. No pressure.....yet.

sounds about right that there are many more elements to get the correct setup including not just coilovers but also doing the monoballs, plates, drop links and sway bars. Be interesting to see what the middle ground between $500 springs and a 10k coilovers setup is. (If there is one) also interested to know what difference monoballs make, I'm thinking its another level of stiffness above and beyond, Bearing in mind the 90% road use of this car.

Those are great thanks Mark, the crease lays horizontal. Today was not fun, but the rest of the job tomorrow will be easy. Looking forward to getting it all back together. Famous last words but that is the last of the big spending for that set of work. My list of mods is complete and the spreadsheet shows an uncomfortable number at the bottom. And it didn't really need anything....

Sam, when I was kitting up at Autoquip, we were discussing KW suspension. Turns out they are the NZ agents and they reckon they can beat personal import prices. Who knows but might be worth a try.

180 hp stock.

That particular car probably has circa 210-220 with sports exhaust and a race tuned engine with a few unknown goodies?

The main thing is it's light at around 1180kg's

Too right Mike! I only pack hand luggage between Vanuatu and Auckland but you can rest assured those keys were the first thing I packed! It will have been 5.2 months since I drove a 911, or any form of manual on any form of decent sealed road (as Pete he saw the pop holes here a few months back!). I am very much looking forward driving my car!
