LOL! I didn't realise it was on there. The owner of Adams and an assistant worked on my car for a full day before the Classic Cars shoot in 2011. It seriously looked like a new car after all their work!

The SC might be old but she makes good use of each of those 204 horses that she might or might not still have.
With the wet parts of today the Honda would have trumped the SC; no ABS, old tyres, petrified driver.

So after a good fast run it seems to be running pretty well. I put some fuel system cleaner in the tank, buggered if I know if that works or not, and with Dan's fettling it runs pretty smooth now. Starts in an instant in all conditions and accelerates so smoothly. Was great fun today when the track was dry.

Sounds good mate...........

IMHO to drive these old girls in anger with the faster cars, you need to rebuild and dial in the suspension like I did on the C3. When I first got the C3 the level of grip (or lack of really scared me). I only got confident to hang with and take it to faster cars (i.e. 964's) once it was fully dialed in and I had 12 months track experience and better knew the limits of that car.

This is not a criticism of your SC - it is a lovely car and drives really well.

My point is you just need to have them running at better than factory spec to hand with more modern Pcars.

The problem is we have all upspec'ed to newer and faster cars over the last 2 years. You now need a reasonable driving ability and 300HP to hang with the gang.

(more if you want to run with the front runners.......)

Very few of the RSG have our original cars or cars in stock trim.

Stiffer torsion bars Dave - this made a big difference to handling and stopped the car rocking under acceleration and braking. It made the car 'feel' quicker as you rocked in the seat instead of the suspension taking the momentum.

Talk to Stan at Performance 9 in Aussie.

Paul - I've said it before mate but you really need to find a way onto the grid. You've got the skills to hook right in and you'd have an absolute blast.

Cool to see the number of ex racers (if there is such a thing!) and supporters who always come out for a gander. Was a fun weekend - more time spent on tire choice than anything else and then Chris B sandbags by putting the 221s on then waiting for us to line up on dummy grid with ours on then pulling a last minute switch to slicks. Crafty...

Nice one Chris. I gather it worked a treat if Peter mentioned it.

Anyone got any data $ points on a glass in respray cost with dismantling and reinstatement done by the owner? I don't want a big concours effort. I just want Herman to sit proudly in the garage with the shiny R. I can use the downtime to pull the engine, get the synchros done etc. I figure it's just prep and a couple of coats. No clear coat on GPW, I hope.

I'm going to find a local shop to do the SC lid. Depending on what the figures are I might get them to blow up the sides as well. The worst paint is just under the roof drip rails as they head down to the rear flanks. Glass in and rockers, bumpers and rear lights off. I will go local for convenience and fast turn around and am not worried about them not being a "named" shop - it is an average job as it stands after all. The SC won't be a $50k car if done glass out and new rubber but the full job would take it to $50k owed.
