Yours is a 1990 model as well, right? The ECUs should be the same. Swapping ECU would obviate the need to pull chips. That said, making Lola faster partially defeats the purpose of an upgrade....

Car has CAT, but no O2 sensor. Steve Wong Chip. Unless Doug was sandbagging (unlikely), there was nothing in over the SITT or at HD. Herman is heavier than Lola so maybe he has more power. Who knows? Too many variables in real world driving.

If you want 300HP in your 964 just buy Tony's old Varioram engine and chip it.

Hey presto - a reliable 300HP and you can return the car back to stock when 964's become $200K collector pieces.

Typical Rennlist discussion, a simple idea transforms into a mega buck option.

Ive interviewed his clients and he does 9M work for their headline engines). To put it mildly, its happy. If you want to know more call me and we can discuss.

Base line is you cant get 315 bhp from a VR engine by advancing the motronics sysyem. There simply isnt anything much left on teh table without opening her up and internal work. Ask Steve. Hell tell you his best 3.8 engine build using factory Mahle on 964/993 will yield 320 and thats using a few "tricks up the sleeve". Thats a full competition spec 100 hour (enduro) build.

Im not going to harp on about this. Its been my pet study for a long time and I forgotten more than I remember. I can promise you there is not 45 bhp in the 964 engine on an electronics change only. Engine is air i, fuel, ignition, exhaust gas out. To get 45 bhp on the 3.6 atmo engine you need to improve all three. Porting, windage all nice and needed, ignition and injection improvements (Motec/Link sequential etc), multi pintle injectors, some ignition advance and nice set of race headers three into one equal length if you can and MAP sensor with good intake and a little intake plenum tickle and youll get a 272 BHP 993 engine to 315 bhp without a capacity increase. Thats 15-20K work just there including 2-3K on the dyno/tuning (easily).

However as previously stated even if you can get 15-25 bhp out of that set up they are advertorially promoting and its 3K USD then its worth seriously considering as there is no cheap performance in air cooled atmo land....

John. You should buy the kit and give it a go. Its cheap and will add some benefit.
With developments in technology these figures could be real world? Is this essentially a hot film kit ? Even with vtec engines which are generally regarded as pretty tuned from the factory but with headers, filter, exhaust and computer I ended up with about 164kw at the wheels from factory rated 220hp at the wheels. Baseline was 193hp done on the same dyno pack on different days though. The difference in driving etc was night and day..so even if this kit gives 15% over factory I'll be in

Yes 1990 C2. Damn, you cottoned on to my devious plan. ECU may be different between C4 and C2. SW chip is on my wish list so will happen soon anyway. No more upgrades until she has finished the current work.

Tony's engine/gearbox housing broke in the crash I believe (from Steve conversation).

Get a lightweight longhood, fit a big donk and watch the 964's in the mirror. That's big talk right there.
