If you read the comments on those listings you would note that none of them are still for sale. Rennlist and other car forums dont remove older listings unless the seller prompts them too.

One of the 3 says sold since you want to split hairs.. and there is this for 38k that says nothing about being sold either. https://rennlist.com/forums/market/1240017

If the seller doesn't respond to people that want to buy the car, its not for sale. The one for $38K looks legitimate though.

2000 Cab for 35,250. Gotta be up there for a 911 Cab that isn't a 4 or Turbo.

Wow, I have a 99 triple black cab with 66k miles. Similar car, except I have no hard top.

It definitely makes me think about selling but haven't been able to bring myself to. Its also an auction so if you go that route there is always the chance it doesn't do well.

The other problem is, what would we get instead? The only logical answer to that is some other type of 911. If a rising tide lifts all boats...

Trade up to a 997 or 996tt, but we could have done that anytime in the past too.

I kind of miss my 1988 air-cooled 3.2 Carrera, but the 996 fills that hole.

The *only* one I would consider to replace my '99 C2 would be a 996 GT3. I've got GT3 LCAs going in soon (after they get back from serviceable ball joint replacement), and a bunch of elephant racing bits with them, so not sure mine won't be far off to the experience of a GT3. Yes, I know the engines are different, but mine made a visit to Cleveland, GA a year ago, so pretty happy with current engine performance.

The thing I don't understand at all is sending 30k to any of the engine rebuilders when you could just buy a 996 GT3 with better everything, and actually retain that value. Boggles my mind.

Ever driven one daily? It doesn’t work very well.
On top of that, everything is more expensive.

These engines break too, and when they do I won’t even think about touching one for less than 50K.

Neither the GT3 or turbo are magical answers. Every car has a trade off. I have owned all of them, have built all of them, and a regular old Carrera is more than fine by me. Simple, effective, and makes a great daily driver.

I own one, it works just fine. Of course no engine is infallible, but the fact is, the M96.7/9 engines don't break nearly as often as the M96.0s. A rebuilt motor holds little premium over a stock one, regardless of who touched it.

Everyone has different needs & wants and I understand why one might buy a 1999 C2 and why that makes sense in the 25-35k range. Throwing another 20-30k at it for either a marginal improvement, or at best, still worse than what the factory provided in another model doesn't sound like a great value.
