I kind of agree.
The 996s on cars and bids usually have higher mileage and aren’t presented as well.
But Bring a Trailer seems to give people a false sense of security.
How many 996s sold on BAT include an inspection for bore scoring?

I am interested in seeing what this very “cars and bidsish” 996 sells for on Bring a Trailer

What about it makes you think it's more suited for Cars and Bids?

The mileage, modifications and the 9 owners.
I’m not saying anything is wrong with the car, it looks okay.

But it’s not the stock, low mileage 1 to 3 owner 996 that is typically listed on BAT.

The era of buy here - pay here 996’s is drawing to a close. Fast. Just like with 964 it was inevitable the markets would eventually wake up.

Hilarious. BaT would never have touched any of these cars. Not one. There will always be salvage outliers. And there will always be Tip 993’s & 964 Cab’s trolling the bottom of Autotrader for half market price. Just like there will always be that Palladio Metallic 12.9K!!! 996, wearing three brands of tires, baking in the Encinitas, CA car lot sun on its last 500-miles from the crusher (it’s a “LOTTA CAR FOR THE MONEY!).

None of this nonsense influences the 911 collector markets at large. 993 & 964 3-pedal Coupes are solid gold. And IMO the day is fast approaching when the 996 3-pedal Coupe is finally recognized for what it actually was all along: pure platinum.

There have been many cars that sold on BaT with way more than 1-3 owners. I think there was a 997 GT3 that had like 9 owners. Plenty of modified cars on BaT too. With the mileage it's not the number but the discrepancy. They say 86k while the CarFax says just shy of 96k. Typo? I hope. But it's a .1 with PSM, in guard red, with LN IMS and few other tasteful mods so of course they took it.

Absolutely

BaT is more about the presentation than the quality of the cars itself. I dont see a curate selection of cars at all.

There are a lot of examples of "just ok" quality cars sold in BaT for much higher prices that they would do in Autotrader just because beutiful pictures

A good example is the black C4S that I was mentioning before: Lemon title, exported, re imported, looking really bad when it came back, questionable milleage, without the original wheels... and sold for 40K...

Yes the white X50/XAF will set records. But not for long. It’s a 911 Turbo it will be worth sticker price and then some. Soon.

Auction says "a BIRD Automotive enlarged armrest"

I never heard of that before. Checking BIRD's website it says that 996 products are all discontinued. Shame, as it looks pretty cool.

Classic 9 Leather offers something similar iirc. Unfortunately, the website is currently down with a note saying they aren't taking new orders until they're caught on their current workload.
