No under 2 minute bid-fest surprised me.

Anything is possible. Certainly surprised to see anything with an aerokit not see a little action at the end. I think this is a good buy, a little paint correction, and having the wheels refinished would take it to the next level.

Was a great buy IMO. Sharp car, nice wheels, driver mileage, retrofitted, 6MT draped leather, aero, GR over black...., analog water-cooled 3.4. Perfect.

Paint correction is subjective, some prefer as is but maybe just detailed and showing some patina/usage. Wheel cleaning is an easy fix, good project for the next owner!

This ☝️
I also think that the Aero kit was added later and isn’t listed on build sticker might have hurt the bidding.

It was a really nice looking 996 and I also expected it to sell for more.

I feel like on clear/base cars you don't get the same patina you do on single stage paint but I see your point. Red just happens to be the second-worst color for showing every little mark next to black but its also one of those colors that is rewarding to paint correct.

@bdronsick

Just like there will always be that Palladio Metallic 12.9K!!! 996.
First it’s Paladio Metallic, and second, it’s a great rare color, especially with the aerokit.
🤘

I didn’t know what to expect when I bought it but I really like it. Changes a lot depending on the light.

Now, do I wish my aerokit was Vesuvio, you’re damn right.

Palladio Metallic aerokit is insane. Wish someone had spec'd a Meridian Metallic 6-3, but that is lost to the ages.

I wonder if the Porsche classic restoration group would repaint a car in a different period color, and update their COA records for the VIN. That’s one way to make a unicorn.

That will be the fate of my black 6-3 if A. I ever get F-U money and B. They'll let me

Earlier, someone asked about 997s. This isn't done yet and is more than the Speed Yellow 997.1S Aerokit I almost bought last August :

This was the best buy in a while that I have seen

You are correct, Red shows every imperfection, add a little metallic and it gets worse

My paint correction at the Porsche dealer two years ago was over $5800 for paint chips.
But they do it right, they disassemble everything, not just touch up.

I'm going to be closely watching this one:

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...carrera-4s-59/

It's not too far off from mine, but have been real curious as to see what value my 996 would currently be at.

I will be watching too. My 50k mile Arctic Silver 03 4s has Factory Sports Exhaust and nicer Metropol Blue interior with some factory upgrades in addition. CarFax mentions "moderate damage" but no other talk of it. Will be interesting for sure.

A quick question wondering what you guys see. It's about the headlights, the right one has a bluish tint, and the left one is kinda yellow, and wondering if I am seeing things or why this might be. It's quite consistent in all the photos, and so I'm thinking it isn't the angle of the lighting or some different light refraction. And it appears to be internal, not on the surface. Could it be because the right one is newer, because of the accident it had? Wondering why they might be different. Thanks.
