Hi bdronsick, my name is Anthony and great to talk to you! For awhile we both had 99 Vesuvio C2's- the fact alone that we now know each other- and each owned Vesuvio- is cool.

I am being forced to sell mine. it has been a painful decision and I fully know I will never be able to replace it. It is truly my dream car and I have been honored to own it. It was originally owned by NHL star defenseman Cale Hulce when he was with the Calgary Flames. He moved it to Nashville with him when he went to the Predators. I have completely sorted it mechanically. No excuses there. I intended to repair 2 curb scuffed rims and a torn drivers seat. I am not going to be able to get to that.

Long story short, I would be very grateful if you would maybe "pop your head" into the comments. I have read your submissions over and over again. My photo shoot is scheduled for tomorrow and I do not know how long it takes to go live after that, but you probably have a pretty good idea.

    Hello,

I hope you don't mind me reaching out, but I believe your 99 is up for sale in Long Island. I googled the VIN and saw you were pretty active on here. I love the idea of the "analog" 996 experience of the early cars. Would it be too forward to maybe chat for a few minutes about the car at your convenience? I'm seriously considering making an offer on your former car.
    Thanks,

    Chris

Hi bmdaia/bdronsick - I am Jim Gauntt aka Soundaround who bought the CTD today on BaT - we live in WNC so not too far away. I will PU the CTD on Saturday and look forward to sharing my experience with you. Buddy of mine in the same PCA Club here got one and I am excited since I have driven his — wife also excited so that’s a major plus - may have paid a tad more than what it should have gone for but still excited

If you're referring to the "intermix" of coolant & oil present in some early defective block castings, 11K miles is long past when those affected cars failed. My anecdotal recollection is 1K-3K miles and the motor was toast.

Hello! I'm new to Porsche ownership and Rennlist. I recently purchased a 1999 911 with 11K miles (build date 3/98). The car was garaged, everything else is original...i.e. even the spark plugs, air filters, etc. I've since updated / replaced all the obvious stuff over the past few weeks. The car is great, looks great, drives great. I've heard of the early builds - and specifically the 2/98-4/98 builds that had to use the "didn't pass X-ray / QC" engines due to the factory fire around that time. That scares me since all of the problematic engines during that time were apparently replaced within the first year or two by Porsche. My car - due to the low miles - might not yet have exhibited some of the bad traits of a "bad engine". What are your thoughts? How do I know if I got a "good one" or "bad one"? I just don't want to sink all this money into the car and then find out it was a dud that should have been exposed in 1999, 2000, 2001. Thank you!
