No worries, thanks for your response!

Actually I took the plunge and bought the car a couple of weeks ago - everything checked out with regards to PPI and filter/sump so I went for it! Some things need attention, not unusual for a 20 y.o car. This makes me feel even better.

Interesting, I will need a clutch soon and did try (twice) to contact EPS/Vertex to see if there was a service interval for units produced during the time frame in question (now they advertise an "eternal solution" but not sure what they offered in the past). they haven't responded yet but as you noted their communication isn't the best...the install was done by a reputable Indy who was a Porsche service manager in his prior life and apparently EPS is all he installs now.

Really digging the car, and getting more comfortable actually DRIVING it - scouring these forums every day for 6 months will make you think the engine may explode every time you turn the key

    All the best,

    Matt

    Hi Matt,

Sorry, I've just now seen your message. I think the EPS bearing kit is a perfectly fine solution. The biggest reason it gets a bad rap is because of some misspelled words and poor grammar in the instructions. The bearing is more than up to the task it needs to perform. Granted, I have since sold that car (convertible) in favor of a coupe, so I can't tell you how many miles it has logged since it was installed. I can tell you that I would not avoid purchasing a car that has the EPS bearing kit in it. I think it's a clever solution to a problem that shouldn't exist in the first place.

Good luck with your purchase (if this isn't too late)....
