A friend of mine runs his Cayenne Turbo on the track at Palmer. It looks ridiculous; it goes like stink though.

I put my girlfriends SUV on the track, and we got forty minutes out of it before all four tires were shredded and throwing chunks.

At the next track event I do I would like to bring my X5m and my 996 and just do a few laps if possible in the X5. As mentioned above given the sheer weight I don’t see tires and brakes surviving more than 1 or 2 20 min sessions

Why do people want to trash their SUV tires and brakes. For what? A cool pic? We are crazy car people though aren't we!

Right. The car is called x4M Competition Package, has 515HP, brakes bigger than a pizza and enough radiators to cool a nuclear reactor. Why would I NOT want to put it on a track? Tires be damned.

Some of the most fun I've ever had was taking a Chrysler Town & Country around VIR.

Rated at 515, but BMW, like Porsche, tends to underrate HP. Even my wife’s X3 M40i is probably making 50HP more than it’s 355HP rating.

These modern performance SUV can be really surprising in terms of fun and handling, if you haven’t driven one lately. Our X3 has a loud cold start exhaust, has clicks and pops (backfire blips), old school steering feel, launch control, etc. Not compared to a 911, but compared to a minivan or regular car.

I did take my Q7 around Road America for a few laps, but it was at highway speeds during the lunchtime tour. Fun to do with the family so they could see the track, but even at highway speeds, all I could think about were brakes and tires. Damn things are heavy as he'll.

Now if you want to experience something funny, go down to Barber Motorsports for the driving school. They take you out in a Mercedes Congo bus on the track. Still don't know how it didn't roll.

"my macan turbo gets listed on carsandbids tomororw (just saying). I’ve DE’d my 996 a few times. I regret not putting the macan on track. That thing is a beast. I’m moving on to a bigger vehicle (X5M). Contemplating selling my 996 in spring… we’ll see. I’ve had it 5 years and don’t know if I’m ready to let it go"

Any specific reason why you chose cars and bids as the platform for selling?

Easy to use and fast response. Primary factor was that candb has sold around 11 macan’s while bat only 1
