The paddles you want are part number 1712670046 Aluminum nice heavy positive switches. No programming necessary. There are 3 wires coming into the steering wheel for tip switches, ground, up, down.... connecting ground and up, sends the up shift signal to TCM, connecting ground and down sends down shift signal to TCM. All 3 wires split and go to both tip switches. You can leave them connected to tip switches which is what I did to have the tip switches for 1 handed driving ect. The paddles only have 2 wires each, the right paddle has ground and up wires, the left has ground and down wires, splice them in behind horn pad. Take your time cutting out for the paddles, make a template, measure three times, you only get one chance to cut the hole right.

Can you give me some more info on the AMG Mercedes paddle add ons for my 2005 year 996. Do we have to reprogram anything and do you cut these into the back of the wheel and just tap into the existing wires. Do you happen to know the part number I would need to order?
