You just factor a rebuild into the acquisition cost of 997.1 very simple. But really why acquire a 997.1 in the first place?? You’re adding weight and nannies, and losing the Connolly leather. All this for a pair of VW Bug headlights?? Is the Beetle really that good looking to you? I prefer the GT1 styling thank you.

Yeah, that is a good deal with a 3.8 upgrade. Only thing is I'd be nervous about that rebuild if they didn't know how to phase the cam properly. But yeah... any competent indy could fix that and/or install some new heads for $6-10k depending on how bad they will kill you on labor and if you need a head or two.
I actually messaged the guy, the engine is a Motormeister rebuild from 2012. I have no experience with Motormeister, however I've heard bad things about this shop. So buyer beware...?

I'd swap out for a mint S2000. At least I would go to bed at night without worrying about my sump, IMS, bore scoring, coolant leaks and engine rebuilds. Just kidding, I don't think about any of that stuff...unless?

my best friend has an S2000. It’s fun to drive and has a great shifter. However I find it very underpowered
