Rennlist travels at the speed of light. Only the 996 headlights crossing LeMans' finish line first (and second) was faster.
Not even I am fully comprehending what this car will be. There is no precedent for what is happening to Type 996. Not ever

Luckiest Rennlister alive. Can you even comprehend scoring a true PCA unicorn 911 for $30K in 2021. Unfathomable luck
Vegas is figuring odds right now on which dealer slams this onto BaT with a $49K reserve...

Most legacy 911 owners have been strongly conditioned by disinformation against even recognizing 996 as a "real" 911; much less accepting and learning anything about it.
Means nothing other than lots of guys will miss the first boat onto the next Classic 911 great. But just watch how fast they all pile onto the second one. And so on.
Leno, Seinfeld, Magnus, etc.. it's really only a matter of time.
Bottom line: you can't win LeMans and remain obscure forever. Porsche history won't allow it. There is a 996 in this picture below just posted to Instagram from The Porsche Museum. Since 1998 there always has been. And forever there always will be. Eventually the 911 collector market must confront this staggering truth: Type 996 dwells in the pantheon, and 964/993 do not..
A picture is worth a thousand words. And this one is worth a trillion dollars.

Three Wheelin'
To admit, much less discuss, the (almost inevitable) prospect of 997.1 bore scoring is too distasteful for social interactions; especially among 997 owners. Cost of rebuilding the motor is silently building itself into the 997’s ground floor. Much like (relatively trivial) IMSB was with 996
Of course, the IMSB isn't even a huge issue unless its fails and grenades the engine. While its a poor design as long as its replaced its a relatively cheap repair and you will eventually need to do the RMS and clutch anyway. I've considered getting a 997 but honestly don't even know if its worth it with that looming in the background.

You just factor a rebuild into the acquisition cost of 997.1 very simple. But really why acquire a 997.1 in the first place?? You’re adding weight and nannies, and losing the Connolly leather. All this for a pair of VW Bug headlights?? Is the Beetle really that good looking to you? I prefer the GT1 styling thank you.

Burning Brakes
Curious where this ends up compared to its last BAT sale in 2018.
