Yeah, the S2000 would be a blast on the track. I drove one I was looking to buy for street use about 10 years ago. That particular car was in rough shape, and the roads were rough. I ended up with a Boxster S instead, one that had 28,000 miles on it. That was a great car.

Just a heads-up, I bought this SY aerokit off a RLer who had won the original BaT auction and immediately decided it was too yellow - to each his own - I was able to get it PPI'd and am irresponsibly amassing wheelsets for it now.

Fun to drive. AWD. More practical.

And most importantly, it's 20 years younger and has 60K fewer miles.

Private sale yesterday on the 2003 Targa with 77k miles and Stage II 4.0 Track Performer, made 409HP at 6,500 RPM with factory PSE, a stock throttle body, and plenum, and just my little "less than known" tricks..
Never advertised, sold for 60K to the first buyer that looked at it.
He arrived at FSI, and took the car for a 3rd party PPI, put a hundred miles or so on it, and fell in love. He understood the dynamics of the purchase, and was a great fit for the car, and my way of doing things. I am positive that it would have sold for more on BaT or some other venue, but that all comes with BS and situations I care to avoid.
It's now headed to Texas, and we are both happy.

Thanks for the update. $60k sounds like a great deal for the buyer, glad everyone came out happy.

Every other sale of cars with your engines in them have produced very little premium, this is the outlier and is the only sale that isn't public or verifiable. Buyer overpaid big time.

Yep. He's a solid guy that really appreciated the car. He has done his "research" and the PPI proved it was a solid car at the shop he chose to be the 3rd party.

Several have not been public, this is the 4th one this year.

Its verified on may word, if I say the car sold for 60K, you can take that to the bank.

What someone pays for something is based on their perception of value. While the Sony PlayStation 5 retails for $399, people are paying $700-$800 for these because they are hard to get. Want one? Get lucky or buck up.

Just because 996s are going for $30k today and I paid $17k a few years ago doesn’t mean they are dumb buying a 996 in 2021.

Here’s the real point though: Buying a used car from Jake is not the same as buying from Bat or anywhere else. Think of how many people buy a car and then spend thousands getting things addressed. Buying a car from a top specialist is a totally different thing. Olsen Motorsports has custom 964s that might go for $200k. Is that overpaying, or is that buying something you just can’t find elsewhere?

I bet you if Jake’s buyer has any problem, concern, question, Jake will take care of that person. You think Bat will do the same?

If you think a used rebuilt motor is worth $30k then that's an opinion I (and the market, as a whole) disagree with.

No harm in disagreement.
