To admit, much less discuss, the (almost inevitable) prospect of 997.1 bore scoring is too distasteful for social interactions; especially among 997 owners. Cost of rebuilding the motor is silently building itself into the 997’s ground floor. Much like (relatively trivial) IMSB was with 996

Some people must think BAT with the high fees is the only place to buy cool cars.. people are over paying for BAD or mediocre cars there. Good cars without accidents and some service history can still be had through local sources and searches.

Had interesting and courteous exchange with S2000 guy (Rodeo) on BaT that shows 996 ignorance even among Porsche owners. The 964 hurdled this, the 996, not yet.
Rodeo Name a car with 25k miles or fewer that regularly trades for under $60k that you would rather have than an S2000 …. anyone?
GeorgeEmily I have a 1999 996 Porsche built in 98 cable throttle, hydraulic steering, 30k miles, first air cooled 911, Porsche went Beverly Hills after this car. Purists hated the headlights, not so much anymore, but still has not valued up at its worth. Do I like it more than my 12K mile 2009 S2000? Some days yes, some days no. Can’t decide, so your point is well taken.
Rodeo Thanks for the serious reply. The 996 is a serious contender for sure, and despite some recent gains it’s still a bargain in the Porsche world. I am the current owner of an 88 Carrera and former owner of numerous other P cars, I’ll not say a word against them. No experience with the 996, but overlooking the hardtop and thus different driving experience, I’ll go with the S2000 on styling, reliability, cost of ownership, rarity, and overall historical importance in the automotive world. I don’t think anyone will remember the 996 as an iconic Porsche. The S2000 is one of the three best cars Honda has produced – the Integra Type R and Gen 1 NSX being the others.

That is a true PCA "unicorn" in Zanzibar (Orangerot) and it's worth a whole lot more than they're asking, and will one day be worth exponentially more. Killer spec too with the full natural leather this is a one-in-one million 996 someone should have stolen it yesterday. In the future these won't last ten seconds online.
