"Ebb" would have been $35K back in 2018

Come on
Ebb could be a down draft in an up market. It would be good for the sellers to slow down a bit. And the buyers to regroup for the next leg up.

Think about this for a second...

Biofuel WILL be a reality.

and

More solutions for M96 engine longevity are coming. UIDS is now a reality solving for oil starvation and oil pressure stability. WOAH...thats huge.

If anybody takes the time to look past the "end-of-the-world" BS that circulates on our cars, they will see they have plenty of affordable solutions available, with more on the way.

The next round of buyers will be better informed on the issues and readily available solutions. The next round of sellers will have a better history of service if they want to get top dollar. And the 996 will be in demand because it's a classic.

I hope you are right. Anyway look at what this 99
sold for with 115 k miles. Almost $25k no record of IMs. Anyway my car is an early car 98k miles , I feel like I stole the car. Because I only have $20k on it. I have factory 408s, ****loads of maintenance. Clutch, IMs, rms, already done. Car has between 5 and 6k worth of upgrades. Been offered $25k cash for it twice. Sunday a neighbor that has an 07 carrera S stop by asking if I was ready to sell it.

I would say that there appears to be some bargains with this near-term ebb. May even give folks the chance to check the bores of a prospective car to be smart. If your bores are good, then it comes down to replacing a few items, changing your oil frequently and you are golden.

115K+ miles with no records and original IMSB is a lot to swallow for $25K. Especially a bleh color! Two years ago that’s a $12K car.

You have to compare apples to apples folks.

Take the time to look for 2 vehicles with similar mileage, similar condition that sold for different prices over time. Or your "evidence" falls flat.

Love a good conversation, but not certain what we are arguing here?

People come in this thread and post an ad for a car as "evidence" that prices ARE or ARE NOT drifting up. It's meaningless. Some of them are just ads, not sales, some of them are auctions in progress.

If someone thinks they have found evidence to support their confirmation bias, whatever it is, go back a year and try to find a legit comp (spec, mileage, and condition) so that your post actually has a small amount of context.

It's all part of the fun of this thread. It's all meaningless until you are either buying or selling a 996. Then that's when folks really seem to car. To your point, there is nothing concrete or scientific about this thread. But the guys seem to really like it.

Absolutely loving my recently acquired Zenith Blue 99 (built 10/98). Cable throttled, grey leather 4 spoked 996...one of the 10 as well I guess

Fair enough. Maybe it's because I'm always in the market to buy or sell it got under my skin. I do understand the appeal of posting similar cars to my own going for more than I paid for them. The subtle flex/humblebrag. Also I do enjoy telling young whippersnappers how much a dime bag cost when I was a kid. (It was a dime!)

Understandable. It's a fun thread, but like all the threads, something will eventually get under your skin.

I saw the trailer for that rom com.

It was pretty corny.

It went something like this ---> "and this time, it's not his heart that gets broken -- it's his cylinders, and IMS, and then foam comes out of his vents".
