Well spec'd black on black C4S with 52k miles for 45k

https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/2959214350956755/?ref=facebook_story_share

Silver on metro blue C4S with 90k for 35k. Not the factory radio so knock 5k from the asking price

That was insane. I guess that the 15K miles difference with a 50K miles C4S is worth 15K $

The relevant aspect of that "off market" kind of sales is that, inherently it brings up the market of the C4S. If top is reachinkg the 65K, I see in the near future being difficult to find C4S for under 50K

De-listing my car. Someday, I will share the nonsense conversations I had. Some legitimate prospects, but also some special individuals.

These are great cars and are likely destined to appreciate (mostly), but the BaT hype has buyers acting like these are hypercars. I'm more than open to PPIs and so forth, but the pantomimed "due diligence" by people who have no intention of coming close to asking price is a waste of time. This is ironic, given how many people bid up to the stratosphere sight unseen on BaT. No, I'm not going to remove all of the carpeting from the frunk and photograph it. No, I'm not taking all 4 wheels off for hub photos. It's a 1999 996, not a garaged 993 Turbo or a Lamborghini.

And don't get me started on the tire kickers and lowballers. I assert that the BaT game is half about letting others know what you bought and socializing that, 25% about the hype of al live auction, and 25% about the car itself.

My 996 is a forever car -- I will never sell it -- but dual row and replacing the IMS every 50k miles as maintenance was much more attractive than a 997.1 that could never be replaced.

Weight-wise, a 997.1 c2/6sp/coupe weighs 174 lbs more than a 996.1, and 124 lbs more than a 996.2, which isn't too bad.. I don't necessarily prefer the headlights of the 997 over the 996.1, but I do like the 997 body shape better. The 997.2 weighs 285 lbs more than the 996.1.
Having had a 997.2 and now a 996.1, I agree with your comments on appearance. I like the more interesting 996.1 lights, but the 997 has better shape, specifically around the rear fender flares. Both great cars. It’s not that the 996 is better, but I prefer the older feel to it. Less refined and less digital. But you can’t really go wrong with either car. They are more similar than they are different.

people who can afford a $2,000PPI are the same people that would never pay $2,000 for a PPI

the only thing that matters in the 997.1 vs .2 debate is this:

.1 taillights are superior and thus the car will always be more valuable.

I enjoy the heck out of the hunt for new car for the fleet. I hate like hell selling one!

That said I have had more good experiences than bad but the occasional BS calls, emails for more pictures, videos, low ball offers, stupid questions.... Last two cars Ive sold went to a broker to deal with the growing BS!

Come look at the car. Then make offer or walk.

BAT brings a premium, but there have been some 996 Aero's that either didn't sell, or didn't sell for as much as expected. Some, like that C4S, really shine on BAT, but if it was listed at $65k on PCAR, Rennlist, CL..., I doubt it would have ever sold. All that being said though, the price you had it at, may be "cheap" in a couple years. I had listed mine for $28k years back on CL because I wanted to get a 360, the 360 ended up selling so I kept the 996. Selling back then at that price now seems like it would have been a big mistake anyways, the same can be said for your listing.

End of the day they were $80-$100k cars when new in the 2000's. Not a hypercar, but not a car for the every day person either. No more are being made, some are dying (and will continue to) so less on the road. Who knows what prices will be in another 5 years. It's definitely the most fun car I've owned so far, and there's really only one or two other cars I'd care to replace it with, but those prices are soaring at an even faster rate. Oh well. First world problem.

You're right. They actually came with sport seats from factory but for some reason many buyers spec'd them with comfort seats. Europe had an option for buckets too.

I actually prefer the 997.1 front and the 997.2 rear, personally.
