Make sure you treat him like a red headed stepchild and offer zero support because he's not the original customer

Of course not, you spend the $45k on a Targa on BAT and have it blow up on the drive home...., THEN it goes to Jake where you spend an additional $35K+.

Yet another MY1999 with fake ambers; this one a C4 which is more absurd than the typical "backdate", since C4 wasn't even released early-build 996 at all

Caveat emptor: https://www.ebay.com/itm/22467194057...%7C1000%7C2500

Wrong. He is the original customer. This is a new engine, with 250 miles since completion, and all the data, and records are in his name. He is even extended the same engine warranty that he would have been if we built this engine for a car that he already owned.

I never advertised the car because I didn't want to deal with tire kickers or BaT commenters. The buyer of this car was at the right place, at the right time, and asked the right guy the right question. That led him to this car, and the subsequent purchase. He received a full frontal assault when it came to the terms and conditions of the vehicle purchase, and many things were said to purposely make him feel uncomfortable. Direct questions were asked, and it was a two way street. At the end of the day very few people can see eye to eye with me in today's world when it comes to a vehicle purchase.
-He didn't want to travel here to see the car from Texas- I required it.
-He wanted to take my word that the car was "good" and he didn't want a 3rd party PPI- I required it
-He wanted to give me a deposit up front for the car before seeing it- I would not accept it.

Stepping back in time to a different millennium is what I required, and he loved every minute of it- even the uncomfortable parts. He will take delivery next week~

No harm in disagreement.
I don’t think it’s just a rebuilt engine. It has a lot more power and features, it’s new, etc. And it’s coming from a super reputable source, not second hand. Not to mention, people are dropping $40-$50k for Bat cars, so $60k is not much of a stretch.

Regarding your market comment, though, I agree. My question is why. Either there are good deals to be had for these cars, or something else is fishy there. Many people like to unload cars that are starting to become problematic. I wonder…

I don't think the wheels were big enough. Should have gone 21".

Wouldn't be surprised if falls short of previous sale (sold in April), don't think Nov is a great time to sell a sports car in general. Hell really not until April.

Never advertised, sold for 60K to the first buyer that looked at it.
He arrived at FSI, and took the car for a 3rd party PPI, put a hundred miles or so on it, and fell in love. He understood the dynamics of the purchase, and was a great fit for the car, and my way of doing things. I am positive that it would have sold for more on BaT or some other venue, but that all comes with BS and situations I care to avoid.
It's now headed to Texas, and we are both happy.

Jake, are you buying cars and rebuilding the engines in a new "Singer" like business?

The guy who paid Jake $60k for the Targa didn't pay a premium in today's market FOR WHAT HE GOT! If I had storage space I would have paid $60k too. I know what a 4.0 Stage II feels like in my 997.2 and I can only imagine how much of a BEAST it must turn a 996.2 into.
