Thanks for the video John. The 993 would have sounded great down that front straight. The 964s are the next best thing. Matts 996 has a nice sound now - epic.

The 991 GT3 sounds very good for a stocker but not loud enough for my liking. Im thinking these might work...

Check out the clip....

Neil has the Sharkwerks bypass on his 997.2 GT3. It's a great (and cost effective) solution with the valved exhaust system, because you're effectively switching between a nicely muffled system and straight pipes. I measured Neil's at around 96 dBa at 4k RPM (before the valves open) and 106 dBA at 6k, both from around 0.5m away.

Beautiful day in Auckland, even if I only enjoy the sun on my commute. Proof that the Turbo 3.6 is not a total garage queen. Well at least it's in a different garage today.

Thanks Matt. Great data points. You've convinced me! Im already at 96db (assume its taken around 05m from rear of car) at 4000 rpm. Given the cars not going to Levels now I guess it doesn't really matter. Yes the system uses the factory tips, takes 20 mins to fit (not cutting or welding) and simply replaces the centre back box which leaving the side primary mufflers in place and the sport exhaust valves doing their job. Its not claimed to make any noticeable power difference but it does save around 12kg in weight. Price as you say is very reasonable and its well constructed. I think Ill give it a go as a first an only mod LOL!

John. That's what its about! Lovely day (weather here has been crap the last week with rain all day and thunder storms!).

I was going to congratulate you on getting the car out for the Monday commute...then I realised its that or the bus for you today ;-).

Just teasing!

I dont thik youve missed anything Graeme. Car was picked up from Bremerhaven two days ago arrives Thurs 13 March Auckland. After talking with Clint no way it will be complied in time. We leave for SITT SUn 16. Will now take 993. Levels has strict noise policy of 95db. WE are unsure how its tested although I understood it to be 4000rpm at the rear of the car. Maybe they wont check. The 991 GT3 was borderline (96db) if this is the measurement. With the centre muffler bypass it would be well over (assume 97-98db).

ok I get it now.
Yes Levels a bit of a pain. I am thinking that I may need another muffler and should be able to bolt on as a back stop

Yeah. I've heard its a bit draconian there!
Theres a chance the 993 could be too loud there. At idle its above the level but at 4000 rpm it should be below (everyone is surprised?). As Matt knows from his new exhaust often its louder at idle than on the gas. Hopefully it will be fine otherwise I guess Ill have to find a couple of baffles....

Just set your idle speed to 2000 rpm for the day.
