Gotcha. The turbo looks pretty clean underneath.

Compared to the C4 condition when I got it the Turbo is about as good as a driven 20 year old air cooled car gets. There are minor oil leaks, particularly one on the turbo oil feed pump but I'm at a point where it's best to leave these things alone.

The 996TT appears to be quite aggressive right now (map still working on Monday driving?) but it doesn't compare to the Turbo 3.6 for atmosphere. Good grief I hate driving the thing as it sets me back months/years in making a decision each time I smell the leather and sit in those sports seats. The most comfortable car seats (for me) period.

Everyone did this year, not so much at Inglewood but there were seemingly great stretches of road around New Plymouth that left lasting marks on my *** and the skid plates of the little RS!

For the few hundred bucks for some skid plates I'd highly recommend it.

Sean. I believe the SI roads are firecasted to be generally much much smoother than the NI roads during the Targa from what the Targa NZ team said in there recce. You must have done some rough ones last year. They werent perfect in 2012 but only twice did I really wince...

I think there were a lot of roads that hadn't been done for years because of the new 4 day format. I cursed the road book at least once every stage! haha. I guess that's all part of it though.

So 7/10th just became 10/7ths.... That didn't last long - but then we knew it wouldn't.

Question is - should I burn down my Michelin SS's on 18's or S04's on Cup2's to make a home for the Z221's?
Those 18's are sweet track wheels but I reckon the 17's with good rubber will be better at HD.

Jeez, just as well you didn't listen to Macca's advice yesterday, or was it the day before - sell it and blow the money on Targas and tours :-P

The car is a work of art.

He might say he'll sell it but it's just talk. I sat in it for the first time last Saturday. It would be difficult to part with and when track days are in the distant past and the C4 is worn out, that's the car that will survive everything life throws John's way and I'd put money on it being the last one to go.

Doug. I have a short attention span. Johns been back and forth on this for 265 pages. He doesn't need the money and he has the garage space so keep it (as it still gives him pleasure).

Thats until he says hes thinking about the day when hes sells it. In that case sell it and use some of the money to have great car adventures at home and abroad.

See. Im very understanding!

Actually, back and forth for nine years on this one. I put it on Trademe in 2006, but never came close again. Doubt I will for a while yet.

Anyway, let's move on to the paradox that is Paul's Z221 shod car that is not a Track Car, but more a comfortable family vehicle? That's a rich vein of entertainment barely explored yet.
