Big talk flying around. Better bring the L plate for the first person into a wall.

Lotsa pictures please! Richard Snow will be there with the 991 GT3 - but he hasn't even completed the break in Kms yet as he's been in WTGN since it was delivered. Will be interesting to hear that down the front straight. Also Matts new exhaust set up.

Not sure who Paul will be giving the L plate to next but remember SITT is 6 weeks away and an off into a wall wont be repaired in time.

John, we expect great things from you in the 996TT and Paul we expect you to beat John with your puny 2WD 272 hp LOL!

Everyone drive safe!

You may want to talk with Chris re compliance. Ive been studying this up too. Its going to be no mean feat getting your machine registered for the road (although I know that's not an immediate priority)...you probably have a list but think Degreg cert, PAG COC, BOL, Bill of Sale, LVVC, Trim exemption, Dean on standby, MSNZ rule book, customs client code, etc etc etc
Car's booked for dyno on Feb 19th. I've been warned by Geoff Ring, who anyone air-cooled listens to as you know, that it needs to be .3- .5 lambda richer on the dyno because it will run hotter on the track. So, need to test it on track even though it will be tuned to his guidelines.

Chatting to Chris it sounds like the only major change is going to be the H4 conversion on the car itself as all other lights etc meet requirements. Well, that and the paperwork merry-go-round…

The problem is the running order of things. First the car needs a new cage, so it can get a MSNZ logbook. Then once it has a logbook it needs is an Authority Card if you want a WOF, but you can't get an Authority Card without Rego. You can't get an initial rego if it's not road worthy. This is where Peter @ Targa will come in. He knows the guy to manage this in a proper linear order who's done this for him more than a few times. Apparently it goes like this: new cage then logbook then LV cert, then authority card then compliance and wof. So anyway, Peter is the key and he and his guy are looking at the car as soon as it arrives.

I have 3 memory cards, two batteries, a power pack brick and a hand held extension mount so footage will be there. Wonder if I can sneak the GoPro and AIM into Richard's car?

I'm expecting a lot out of the 996TT today, but going into a wall isn't part of the plan. If the opportunity presents itself the Herminator will pass cars driven at 7/10ths...

Last I looked Peter and Paul were still sporting their L plates. Badges of honour?

The day is dry, overcast and has a turbo friendly nip. Update tonight. Prepare to use some bandwidth.

Hell yes - not just anyone can get an L plate - you need to do something really f**king stupid (like playing with the wires under the dash while driving)...........

We ain't giving them out like confetti yet..........

LOL! Yeah. Pauls not a competitive guy or anything.....;-)

Paul. Good on ya mate! You are the sole bastion of the 993 Brigade today. Stock car, even with SUV ride height, with new Z221s should well driven keep the 964s well in your mirror LOL! Remember that car looked after Loverage and it will look after you. Use a lower gear than you think you will now you have six. Peak torque 4000-5500 rpm range. 993 brakes are good so lean on them. Will be a good shakedown to see where the weak points are after the car has covered so few kms in the last 10 years....

Enjoy.

So, what's the consensus about the difference between Puke and HD times. By my guess it's around 3-4 seconds, but could come down to 2 seconds (Puke being 2 seconds slower) if we spent more time at Puke??

Macca - didn't embarrass the 993 fraternity too much, the 993 smoked all the 964's on the track (luckily Sean and Steve not in theirs) - but there is some serious time to find and dialing in to do. My best times were 1.23's today, I think this could come down to 1.20 dead with proper suspension set-up, race pads and more time at the track.

I think the car enjoyed the blow-out there is a serious carbon lining in the exhaust.........
