I have a thing about the look of black wheels on a red car. Are the look of these grouse or gross to you?

I get comments on the Fuchs, asking why I didn't go for the full black version. The reason is that I wanted to highlight the detail. With D90s that isn't needed (remember I own some Frankenstein D90s). I don't mind the wheels in your image, but Dave's Copper ones are more original and tone well with the red.

Doug. My personal thoughts are that red cars with black wheels is a bit overdone these days. Its a great look but not particularly unique. I would go for a dark titanium finish (satin not gloss) to achieve a similar stealth look whist retaining some uniqueness.

The Guards Red/Copper combo is the nicest I've seen any car sit on those wheels.

I'm quite sure John intended it to be picked up. We are the ultimate secret society. I've been a fan since it was in black and white....

Anyone going or keen to go to the Classic Car show at Ellerslie? Tony and I will be heading down for a gander around 11.

Also, saw a gorgeous 964 in Remuera this morning. Oak green narrow body. Pretty sure it was a 1993 model as it had a '93' ref in the plate. Although a red freak I'm also a real fan of 964s in Rainforest or Oak Green - esp with the cashmere/black interiors.

I love your Fuchs the way you have them. Already been looking at lots of Fuchs **** but will not disrupt your unique look for at least a while :-P. I'm getting 2 sets of D90s so was intending to paint the 2 grey ones to match (giving the car a full set of copper) and maybe have a "play" with the colour of the other set.

Thanks Macca. I've tried to search for examples of this finish, closest I found was the one attached of D90s (with poorly matched centres) and another of Audi wheels in the finish I think you mean?

Thanks Pel, will be sure to keep with the copper on that set. Have had a few positive comments about them, apart from Pete :-P

Hi Doug. Yeah that VW gold picture is close to what I was thinking but perhaps a fraction lighter. The wheels on my GT3 are a titanium grey but may be a fraction too light for an aggressive look on D90 so midway between what you posted and below would be good. Definitely like the satin/matt look for these....

What's the new plate for your old car? Saw 964 C4 on a plate today.
