I'll be the lone supporter of a silver 911 tipo! Having just driven 2000km in mine I can vouch for the comfort+fun balance. I prefer to open it up (window and accelerator) as much as possible, but when you're occasionally stuck behind three locals, two trucks, a camper van and a bus of tourists, the air con is a god send. And that (almost) instant power is just what you need to move past them when the time is right (don't imagine any of us have any issue with passing to be honest).
The soul of the trip is the drive in a fantastic car. And the TT is a fantastic car!
Very likely, although I took Broadlands Road from Taupo to Waikite Hot Springs, then SH5 from there to Rotorua at around 7pm.
Was expecting my radar to be rather noisy but it was quiet for the most part. Only 1 car parked up and a few patrolling. Most didn't have their radar on! Surprising. Bit of placebo action going on methinks...

Granted no everyone gets the air cooled thing (and thats good cause we are all different) but nest time we go for a spirited sunday drive together you are welcome to swap keys with me and see what you make of it. Just bring your thin soled narrow driving shoes, practice your heel and toe before hand and dont eat a purple ice-cream for morning tea!

I'm located in Auckland/Rotorua and would love to meet local Porsche enthusiasts
I have had only 1 day of driving the car legally because I had to go overseas and will be back in a couple of weeks so I'm looking forward to more seat time

Welcome aboard Chris...............very nice looking car and the 997 C2S make great value propositions if you ask me.
John M - take the 964T - this is your soul car mate, just dial it back a bit at the track, but enjoy the hell out of it on the open road - this is what this car is made for mate..............
It has the most comfortable seats, the best smell and is good practice for the Euro trip you are planning for this car..........
Just my 10c if I had your fleet.

John. Shame I dont still have the M5 as in March that would have made 1200bhp for three....
Im sure someone could modify a 996/997TT to half of that with relative ease!

Fair call and no one is dissing TTs in isolation. But when you have a garage quuen 964 3.6T and a rodded track ready 964 C4 in the garage each of which has taken far more of your emotional energy, passion and wallet what would you choose? Understand the draw of the air cooled car. If I had the $$ I'd have had a 993T over the 997
But the 997 presented such a good value proposition it was too hard to turn away from it.Appreciate the offer of the keys to your car, but I think I need at least some track time in it first before pushing it on the open road. My heel toe skill would need a lot of work before I'd take on the 993!! The GT3 on the other hand...
And who would eat purple ice cream before jumping in a Porsche?!

Jake. Your 997TT was the deal on this forum of 2013 and I still think a very tasty choice as an entry into 911 hod. God help you for the replacement!
John. Jakes idea is solid. Its a halfway house Paul would agree. You will regret not using the 964T or 964 track car for this event mate trust me. If you decide to be soft then go for what Jake suggests - 964T to Reianga and back and 996TT for the tracks in the SI....
