I didn't want to say anything this early on but the Iam proposing the 2014 Targa Tour RSG assult will be a fancy dress affair. I suspect the 5 porsche driving elvis's will insure we get all the media attention we need to lift RSG membership in 2015! That being said johns appetite for cross dressing does raise a few thoughts to alternative themes...

I've also been watching too many Magnus Walker videos and having naughty thoughts about old 911's...

As others have said, something like a Singer 911 looks pretty much like the perfect answer. Bar the price!

Yes, the $470,000 NZD they quote when I inquired excluding RHD donor and shipping, GST and compliance seemed a tad rich LOL!

Paul Stephens in the UK is doing some nice stuff on base 964 chassis/power plant for around $300,000 including donor but ex shipping and GST + compliance.

If you owned a 1973 9911 T in fair/reasonable condition you would not beable to realistically run it at the track long touring or fast road/targa. It becomes a weekend thing, then it becomes valuable and you are too scared to use it...

I think you could do an amazing back-date based on an SC/3.2 Carrera. A good solid donor car will cost $30K, and you could budget $50K to paint and top end rebuild:

The Paul Stephens car below is a good example:

Personally, I really like this one: the ivory and red interior combo is very pleasing to my eye...........maybe I should do this to mine when I finish wrecking it on the track............

They are booth nice Paul. The 40K GBP one is just a cosmetic job. The Ivory & Red one is around 120K GBP. Unfortunately for 50K NZD you wouldnt get much more than some fender flares, respray, seals and gaskets, wheels/tyres and as you say a top end rebuild. Anything bespoke interior wise is where the really bug money goes along with anything exotic engine wise. Suspension/wheels next and often panel & paint ends up being one the more "reasonable" costs in the project given what one gets. I still maintain you cant easily create anything bespoke, tasteful with some performance improvements for much under $100K if its done right. Offshore markets are backing this up. Best deals are buying a used hotrod from UK.

Paint is more chip resistant than 964 paint and it's built like a brick sh$t house. Sounds like an easy choice.
Ahh John
A return to the WC fold..
I'd be a starter for the SI Targa, but like Macca, need someone to buy one of my boats first, as fiscal responsibility has been put upon me.

This bid up to 30K at Turners but didnt sell. I guess its not an insurance job due to it still have Reg. It must have been crashed by someone drunk, or something along those lines.

I never actually left. I will slow down a bit from here as I have too many ***** in the air.

The C4 will hopefully have new carpets, seats and harness by Xmas. Thereafter some suspension tweaking but pretty much finished after that.

The Turbo 3.6 is my sunny DD car and needs nothing, right now. If I have enough time I'll give it a minor detailing.

The 996TT now has a spare set of rims. A bit ugly but they look sound. I expect to put some track rubber on those, eventually, plus look at a chip remap.

Possible breakdowns aside I seem to be entering a 'sorted' zone. The house has a few more things needed but that's largely on its way. Time to put the racks back on the 996 TT and get my windsurfers back out on the water.

BTW was there a pre Xmas RSG CBD date set?

John. The C4 will look great with RS carpet set, those seats and a harness bar, lowered a bit. Very much the business!

I ordered Endless MX72 pads from Mike @ Prosport (Petes recommendation) for the new Turbo/RS brake set. Also a set of track rims. Those should all be fitted in Feb in preparation for the SITT so will bed them in on the way down. Although I never had any issues in the first place I hink it should stop pretty well now!

Ive had this 2 digit investment plate for 10 years and been holding it tentatively for a GT3 purchase. IX (number 9) should hopefully look the part on the white GT3.

Im in town 72hrs so if anyone wants to make Sun 01 December afternoon for a beer and option Im in. Somewhere with parking.

Not long now until you are behind the GT3 wheel. 01 Dec works for me. Hopefully it will be dry by then. Long range forecast is rain for the next 9 Days. I can see the 996tt making it out on the day if really wet. Might have the track to Doug and myself.
