JenSP. Interesting choice of wheels. They seem to work nicely though. I saw your post on the 993 board last week. You are just running the standard brakes with repainted calipers right?
Graeme. Pete & I were discussing that JZM 993 earlier in the week. I think its very good buying for approx. $120K NZD landed, GST and on the road. It would cost at least 180K to build that car. The mechanical spec is similar to mine but the engine is a cup engine transplant probably good for 320 bhp so a very tasty machine for someone looking for a sorted 993.
UK market is getting a bit heated right now and I suspect bubble pricing for classics is in play once again. UK government changes to accelerate home ownership as you say part of the catalyst here along with 0.3% or lower base rate for Euro/GBP. Top condition 993 LHD Euro now heating 60K Euro in some cases.
Luckily down in Godzone no one wants to pay big $$$ for nice metal so I suspect pricing will continue to be lethargic and this could be the best place for you to find a nice RHD 993 at realistic price, although finding a nice one and manual my take some time. One of the occasional board members here from South island just picked up a high mileage but honest NZ new 1995 manual for under 50K NZD which had had quite a bit of money spent on deferred maintenance recently. The car still has a few items on the to do list but represented excellent value IMHO. I was asked by the owner to assist in long distance appraisal of records/history and I think it stacked up very well for the money. This one didnt get to the market, but they are out there.
I for one hope prices do not get too silly downunder. Our RSG group is about having fund and using these for their intended purpose, not for cars & coffee. If 964s and 993s doubled in NZ market value in the next 3 years that would probably make it more difficult from some to justify punting them around roads and track...

Just pulled my invoice out, they charged me $235 reading "Found system to be low on gas, placed on vacum for a period and checked for pressure loss, all appears ok. Checked for loss of gas, unable to detect any loss at time of inspection. Use until performance drops off"
Will be interesting to see how long it lasts as I was expecting to pay thousands for the tank out fix, at least one pleasant surprise.

Sorry mate, it wasn't my place. Purchaser approached me for opinion and thoughts on the car. With 993 happens more often than you think (Bob & David, Jamie here did same before buying their 993 etc). Actually it keeps me in the loop on what is in the market over time and I think I've now been involved to various degrees in around 13-15 993 acquisitions in NZ over the years. Actually truth be told I didn't realize you were seriously in the market for a 993?

With house build nearing completion, will buy a new toy next year. Needs to be something the wife can drive and kids can go in............. 993 is an itch that needs scratching. 996tt starting to make a lot of sense too. 996 GT3 too dangerous - will end up on the track.........
My wife, bless her cotton socks, struggled with the Turbo's low speed bump clearance, big rear end (cars not hers) , lack of carrying space, inaccessible rears seats for adults, and didn't see the need for 420hp. However she did like leather seats and a bit of pep. $22,000 later she had her GTI and hasn't complained since. I think you are on a hiding to nothing.

Hi everyone, twas me bought the '95 Mark is referring to. 157 tkm, had suspension rubber bits refreshed etc. Sits on std 17 inch cups, H&R with Bilstein HD, factory "motorsound" airbox (chrome mouth), cargraphic exhaust, Wong chip & strut bar. Aventura green/black. No sunroof, m150 engine.!
I looked at 15 mths ago & PPIed, couldn't negotiate $, needed $6-8k work. Someone else bought & did most of the work. When it became available again 2 weeks ago I got phoned....its not perfect. Needs driver's door-strap fixed "properly", 3 failed motors in heating system, engine lid struts buggered. All stuff I can live with!
Cheers - David
