Hi Phil, I need to keep the 295 rears as spares so I'm looking at selling the 225/40 and 265/35 pairing. That's either 964 Turbo or 993 NA with 18" wheels. Your man with the 997 may want to go larger on the sizes, maybe a 235 front and 315 rear. Still good prices out of the UK and US. Just a bit of pfaffiing around with customs.
I suggested that
btw, got mine (michies) in as fenders on my boat ex China
NZD$1400 the set..
We having a beer b4 Xmas guys
Can start/finish on my boat in the Viaduct if we want to taxi home..
Got a price at GBP $290 for spoiler hyd ram ex design 911
$1400 ex CC
We have soo much to learn from Macca and the time he has spent sourcing around the world

Phil. That's a good deal on the PS2s. I just picked up a set of the new Mich Super Sports but in 235/275 fitment for $1100 NZD but that before freight and GST, so well done!
It really simple as I tell everybody. Talk to Mark or Darin at FD Motorsport. The send at freight cost by USPS (very cheap compared to fedex etc) and will help you out with the paperwork. Ive used everyone from Pelican, Sunset, Carnewal, design911, Porsche shopUK etc. FD are the cheapest and easiest to work with IMO, although I deal with Gert @ Carnewal for an ex Euope built equipment like Heigo cage etc.
John, you'll have no problem shifting that rubber on TM. Might be also worth trying PCNZ online classifieds.

My calcs (assuming UK and US charge NZD 450 in freight) and paying by Paypal is the following cost to import a set of N-rated Michelin Sports is as follows:
Turbo 3.6. 225/40 & 265/35
Ex UK = NZD 1,990
Ex US = NZD 2,360.
996 TT
Ex UK = NZD 2,190
Ex US = NZD 2,710
Not sure why the US is so much more expensive. The N rating appears to cost NZD 430 extra per set landed.

The Super Sport is N rated and factory fitment for Ferrari & Porsche in 19 & 20 inch sizes. This is the common issue today. Most of the new tech tyres are not N rated in 17 & 18 inch fitment.
Neil had brand new Super Sports fitted to his 7.2 GT3 on the NITT and they were only a fraction slower than his new Trofeo R compounds by his reckoning.
I stopped worrying about (and paying a premium for) N rated tyres a decade ago, allowing me a much wider range of fitments and brands. Take these MPSS's for exampe - 235 front and 275 rears, almost identical circumference (less of an issue with 2WD) and a really good tyre patch combination to reduce inherent understeer when pushing on with an LSD equipped car.
Id be interested if you can look into what these would cost in the UK.

The websites don't give comparable descriptions e.g. The UK tyres are variously available in sport 2, sport 3 and PS2 tread patterns. That said in terms of pricing the UK prices are slightly more expensive if you look at say the 235s as all of the versions are priced at either USD 227 or USD 235.

Don't really want to get into a conversation I'm not equipped to discuss factually. I'm obviously happy to run non N rated tyres on the track and on road trips at moderate speeds i.e. Z221. However for the road I stick to approved sizes and N rated for the two turbos. It may be another Porsche tax, but it gives me comfort, particularly in the Turbo 3.6 as I have 360 hp, heavy back end and no driver aid apart from LSD and ABS. If the supposedly stiffer walls stop the tyres deforming less under power than non N rated then I'm a happy camper.

John. Each to their own.
I prefer to focus on the correct fitment and best technology I can buy for my money. In my mind N rated validity depreciates markedly once tyre tech moves on from the original generation the vehicle was borne and shod and also (obviously) with changes of wheel type (rim size, witch, diameter) and the improvements one has made to their chassis (lowered with solid mounts, coil-overs, RS ARBs, more aggressive camber and geo etc).
As soon as you change the vehicles chassis settings outside of those the factory shipped the car on you largely invalidate the N rating benefits (if there were any perceivable ones) IMO.
Speed and power has little to do with it. These tyres are speed and quality rated the same whether N on non N.
For your 964 3.6 stick to N rated for originality only. It will handle better on the newer compounds than the older ones but its not being driven to its limits so it doesnt make any real world difference. For the other cars go with the best feedback and rated tyre by users of the same vehicle available for your car for the money. I find Tire rack very useful here as I read all Porsche related feedback on a tyre especially 911 of similar generation. I cross reference using search function on Rennlist. For example, for the 996TT I would try the Super Sports for sure but also Hankook make an SD3 which is apparently very good.
In this instance I decided some tyre (fitted and laser balanced free) were a good way of protecting some track rims I was purchasing during shipping. I didnt need any road tyres but at these prices how can you say no...
