Is that the basis for your decal order?

That equates to $170,000 per annum, assuming every hour is charged. Take off down time, overheads, training, rework, time you can't charge for (e.g. Old parts that can't be dismantled) and you probably end up with less than $100k per annum.

What actually gets my goat are charges for computer diagnosis, recycling, and consumables.

A typical CCS tech would be on 55K pa.

I think Giltraps are only $100/hr on their heritage rates

It's not really about the money - it's the service and convenience. Given the labour is usually the cheapest component, you are only talking a $100 delta in most cases.

Not that I have anything bad to say about Areo - Stu is awesome.

I've just had less flexible hours with the NZME project this year and Gillies just pick up the car and drop it off at home, or are basically on my way into the city in the morning.

I also like having the car groomed every time I drop it in. The GT3 was filthy from Saturday, dropped in on Tuesday for a WoF and picked it up a few hours later groomed at no cost for the grooming...........

This is not a Gillies Ad - I know Macca gets the same service at CCS.

Who says GT3's can't handle 'B Roads' Macca?

I think this auto-cross / rally-cross needs to go on my bucket list.

Graeme - you must be a contender for this, can you hire the cars and do this anywhere in the world?

JMc - if bankers earned $170K p/a, they would only be working 2 days a week??

Just only winding you up. Over the years Ive built relationships and I stick with the companies that look after me. I actually pay less than Heritage rates but its the "latitude" on the longer/unexpectedly complex jobs I value the most. It means they still look at my business holistically and see value. I like that. Its good that you now see the value in the main agents however.

Ha. I ask them all explicitly NOT to 'groom' my car. Indeed I stopped going to a certain indy for doing just that. It wasn't the only reason - I like to think I'm not that vacuous - but it was part of the decision

No, just a simple pair of meatballs and a few strakes here and there.
I figure that the occasion deserves some temporary decoration.

I'm with you there. I don't mind paying for good service and knowledge but won't be played for a fool when the consumable add-ons are marked up at several hundred percent.

LOL, I always wondered if there was anyone else with those standing instructions Warwick. Always give her a wash once home - what with CCS situated under the motorway she's always smutty when I pick her up. Only a problem with cars of course...
