Any Rennlisters from New Zealand?

I think a 570S would be a better buy and even then better to wait for the Spyder version. McLaren are making big leaps every revision right now, great for improvements, terrible for re-sale value.

I still want a set of Z221's but as i've had a set back on a second set of wheels whats the view on running the Hankooks as a do-it-all? My only fear is wet weather performance. Are there other tires that give good track performance which can also be used if caught in Auckland weather?
the problem with using these type of tyre for DD is that most of the time it's fine and you get a bit casual and then it can catch you off guard. like getting over a little river on a corner can sledge you into the oncoming lane. for me its not worth the risk. I have used similar tyres - Dunlop 03G mostly - over 9 years of Targa and feel ok racing in the wet on them but the fact is you are on high alert, have a co-driver with eyes peeled for standing water as well. In DD conditions this is not the case and I have been caught unexpectedly once on a touring stage driving Wgtn to AKL for the start of Targa. Not speeding but hit some standing water and wasn't paying attention quick enough. no accident but a bit lucky
Others may rate them on track but I reckon they are horrible even in the damp. Track is a lot more slippery than the road with rubber down but no way I'd want them on my car if it was wet.

Buba. go 7.2 gen GT3. Performance delta would be underwhelming otherwise although step up in aesthetics and interior build quality sure...

991.1 Turbo S was about $440 retail wasn't it? The one in Giltrap has been sitting for a while at $369 - only done a few 100 kms I think, maybe 1000? A lot of car for the money, but much more aggressive depreciation than the cheaper GT3.
McLaren make exceptional metal - and is great to see their foothold in the market growing at the pace it has been. Wish I saw more of them on the road (and in my garage!!).

With Turbos the killer has always been depreciation. Even today a 3.6 T is cheaper by far than its original sales price (inflation adjusted). Not sure that they were new in 1994 in NZ but assume 280k optioned up and add 20 years CPI....and they would be well over 550k today?
Same goes for most metal in NZ. 993/964 RS etc still all well below their CPI adjusted new delivery price. Which is why cars like 2.7RS & 4.0 RS are really some of the few who's resale value used on the NZ market is actually ahead of their list price!
I know someone in France just traded their 991TTS 2014 on 2014 GT3 with 9000 km and had to actually pay 30k Euro to change out! gT3 used prices in much of Europe around 30+% over original list TTS prices 40% under.
Traditionally/historically turbos have been the fastest depreciating Porsches until they hit the 20+ year mark...

Well, I hope the trend continues! I'd happily pickup a 991 Turbo S after it has rapidly depreciated and the owner has invested in a GT3
We need to get a McLaren owner involved who's keen to bring some new metal out on an RSG day - would love to try chase one around the track.

It would be great to have a McLaren on the track with us. Ive signed up for PLaydays Prestige on 9 Jan with the hope of finding one in the wild to play with. Unfortunately I think that will be the end of my tyres. If so Ill bring the 993 on the 11th as I want to keep my new set of MPSC2 for SITT (where they will probably die over the course of the touring and track events).

It's hard seeing the set of MPSC2 sitting on the shelf every time I jump in the car. Sorely tempted to put them on but the MPSS should last through until the end of Feb. Will know by the end of the next track day.

Don't feel too bad, I've got 10 year old bridgestone r comp with flat spots that will take your fillings out. Have some new Yokohama's waiting at Tyre City but want the SC under 1:20.5 as reward for fitting.

Good luck with that. But 10 year old R comps cant be particularly safe?
