Any Rennlisters from New Zealand?
Don't get me wrong I like the classic Porsches, but there must be more to it than just being... Well classic right?
I apologise in advance! Newbie here!
Speaking from not much experience and having never owned a water pumper Porsche I've found myself going back in time in perfect chronological order 993 - 964 - 911SC and 911T - in search of the holy grail 911 experience.
Just the weekend before last I was lucky enough to sample my old 964 in the middle of driving the SC over fast windy roads. They are chalk and cheese despite appearing to be the same thing to allcomers, but they are absolutely not. The 964 was faster, more compliant, easier and better all round but jumping back in the SC it was slap in the face obvious what they say about the earlier cars. Light, nimble and alive. And that's just an SC. I can only imagine what a 2.7 RS, Carrera 3.0, 911S etc are like.

This is obviously the wrong place to be confessing my ignorance... But I will need someone to enlighten me as to why there is such a following around the air cooled pcars. Maybe trackside one day, someone pull me aside and educate me! Don't get me wrong I like the classic Porsches, but there must be more to it than just being... Well classic right? And then get in Lola and go for a ride with Doug!
Peter, that was me giving you a wave as I went past you on the constellation Dr off ramp this morning. It's been so long I thought I'd let you know in case you thought it was a looney.
Cheers mate - yes I clocked it was you. Least you could do though is drive that turbo around the Shore a bit more! Hardly ever see interesting cars over our way on the commute.
This is interesting, was the price not lower before?

Thanks for the suggestion. I hadn't thought about custom. My garage ceiling holds the pipes for the upstairs water supply and one sprang a leak two days before I got home. Luckily it was relatively slow and not over the cars but anything resting on the ground was wet.
This is the third leak in 4 years. The other two were bathrooms. Water proof cabinetry is a must as is no floor contact. I would like to get a scissor hoist as well so using the maximum floor space will allow me to work on a car while still being able to drive others.
I also want room for some tool toys. Maybe a compressor, engine stand etc.

Thanks Jamie, I realise it's as much about design as having a manufacturer. I'm thinking most of the install will be against the back wall. I'll find ceiling based solutions for the windsurfers and ladders. Everything must have a place.
Bit hard on us 996 owners Dave.. I reckon I'm sitting on a gold mine..or so my lady says
