The high end Escorts Jake mentioned
and the top Bells have pretty much identical electronics and core performance, with the difference being in their available feature sets, defaults and options. Same company owns both now and I reckon they have a slight performance edge over Valentine, plus they're not angled away from NZ drivers to favour the left seat.

There's a Prestige session on the 27th of April, but being only one day before the arrive and drive it may be too much of a good thing.

Bear in mind with your planning there's no insurance with Prestigio in the normal group though. Only RSG or Prestige groups due to the limited numbers and behaviour rules in these groups.

after being told I needed to get instruction/do a course etc to qualify for insurance I finally got around to writing an email and presenting my case which has now been accepted. It will be interesting if they tell me I still need to do a course very year.

Based on the way they have treated those that have taken the time to write a summary of experience/track days attended I would think all you need to do is add the current year events and resubmit that when you renew your policy each year.

Correct. This works and seems readily accepted. John you could do this. Hundreds of laps of HD, 2 x NITT, 1 x SITT, PCNZ driver training would do it IMO.

A question for the younger forum members.
I had lunch with Simon G (anyone want to buy a 355) and mentioned the problem with learning to unwind the steering wheel. He said get a Playstation game and practice on that.
Which driving games are the most realistic for the PS3? Also is the Logotech G27 the best value controller?

Yes, I've been thinking about it again now that I have a significant amount tied up in the R. However inertia plays a part in this plus a (misplaced) thought that I'm a conservative driver so won't have an issue. Playday is an inherently safe means of enjoying the track if you understand the risks. I'm almost at the point now of avoiding wet days. There is no upside. That leaves dry days. I may well do absolutely nothing to the R and just enjoy it as is. Herman can do the higher risk runs with the Z221s.

Do you have insurance for the R at the track John? Sore point for me. If you can't afford the total loss don't go uninsured. All it would take is a mechanical issue (brakes) going into turn 1 or that happening to the bloke behind you and it could be totalled. My little incident cost me $28k using 2nd hand parts and doing some of the work myself. I won't go uninsured again as I can't afford it. My boxster getting hit by the merc came to $52k in parts alone. <end of lecture>
