Very true. Been lucky enough to lap HD about 150 times or so now using a mad mix of two wheels, three wheels and four wheels, RWD, FWD and AWD, 2,3,4,6 and 8 cylinders. I like to push everything, but beyond the standard care and attention to keeping body and soul connected, I find myself relaxing into it more with cheaper gear. Used SV650 track rat vs a new Daytona 675, BB Integra versus the yellow terror. The lowered speeds probably feed into that too. Slowing for turn one from 230kph in the Turbo means scrubbing off three times more kinetic energy than coming down from 168 in the lighter BB, thanks to that whole square-of-the-speed thing. As I said to Ray a week back, if I'd known 20 or so years ago how much fun could be had in a $2000 car, my life would likely have taken a bit of a different course.

That said, I still don't think I could ever set aside tracking the Turbo since that power is so addictive, even if any car eventually leaves you wanting more. As Mark Donohue said about my dream bucket list drive, the 1100+hp 917-30, "it will never have enough power until I can spin the wheels at the end of the straightaway in high gear."

Good buy! Getting a B18c DC2 for 2k takes you right into the competitive club.

Thanks. The planets aligned on this one, I think. There are bound to be stories but the fact that it was de registered was a big help. Nothing I can see in the rules against that. In fact it can be no WOF or Reg if it has a roll cage and is up to WOF standard.

In memoriam. Check out from about 2.44 onwards and especially the whoops at 3.25. He's driving it that loose around the corners to get the big turbos spooled up for the exit so as to avoid monumental lag.

At full capacity we can fit 6 cars, 3 in the garage and 3 outside. Scaffolding makes that a little difficult right now but I'll work it out. I have to as I imagine parking the Integra on the street with a 18c motor won't have it there for long.

Not sure who on here takes close notice to FX but this is an interesting article today on Fonterra. Interesting enough for me to clear my holdings NZD....If you are in the market for any medium term USD (+GBP+Euro?) purchases you may be advised to hedge or take a spot rate to cover your risk....

Default New track car

Well I finally made up my mind and have bought the 944s2 race car form Kevin. I went backwards and forwards but am happy that this is a light, newly prepared and beautiful example that will be safer and less expensive than my car. Hopefully. Just have to get over the nerves and get out on the track and feel my way into a left hand drive race car. Thanks to everyone who has given me advice and recommendations. I look forward to meeting Kevin, Tim , Wayne , Steve and many others on the track in the porsche series.
I won't bring it on the NITT but look forward to catching up with all the RSG guys at HD.
Well done John on e new car . Looks like a beaut. They are difficult to find but should be worth the wait.
Phil, I will be coming on the 7 th if that's OK.

Its all on for sure. Nice car Neil, that will be a ripper and left hand drive will enhance the experience. It's quite amazing that you can buy a complete race car for the same money as fixing a few scratches out of the front of a 997 GT3....

When i was a young lad John, my boss had a new green VTiR and I absolutely lusted after it. That lust has faded somewhat but never mind, i am a little bit envious, not because you own one of my former dream cars but because you will be mixing it with the pack in a race series. Looking forward to seeing that develop.

Nice one Neil, I'm sure you'll take to her like a duck to water. BTW, even the 2Kcup guys I chatted to on the 23rd started telling me about your 'get out of jail free'/luckiest man vid.

Brilliant news John. You'd be welcome to borrow the Cayenne but Macca has a point.... He's borrowing it for Jo while in NZ. Maybe if you could offer Jo the Golf for a day or two you could make it happen. 3 ton towing capacity and tows Chris's trailer beautifully.

Ha ha. You don't miss a trick Macca :-)

Congratulations Neil.

What a big day for RSG racing :-)

Neil, great news. I seriously thought about the car. It has a lot going for it. Ultimately I couldn't make my budget fit. Hence the 2kcup move. I'll happily play road cone for you while get your eye in.
