All these codings are done with a Launch X431 V+. I'm not promoting this company. People are asking if other launch x431 models that are cheaper can do it, I don't know. If you decide to try it, let us know here as well and I'll update the info.
- bfly reported that the Launch x431 Diagun IV has the coding feature.
- Launch x431 PROS Mini is confirmed to work
- darrenbt reported that his iCarScan running Porsche 23.20 DOES NOT have the coding feature. Confirmed that iCarScan does not have coding.
::WARNING::WARNING::WARNING::WARNING::WARNING::
In the coding menu, there is an option for "Online Coding" If you select it, this popup box will show. I don't know what factory settings means in this context, whether it's factory default as in how it was originally programmed or factory default all to ZERO. I don't know and I'm not brave enough to find out, so I advise you to don't play with that.
You can read about that one time when I actually did hit the "Restore Default Setting" and completely zeroed out my parking brake module here: https://rennlist.com/forums/cayenne-...ing-brake.html
I'm also including a link to the thread I made for my 2014 base model that includes all its default coding values for each module. Might be a good backup reference. https://rennlist.com/forums/cayenne-...ding-list.html
Also in post #2, there's a photo of a selection showing "Back Up All Coding", it doesn't work. It fails and kicks you back to the main screen. So please keep a record of changes you make by taking screenshots.
Now the final disclaimer: DO NOT hold me responsible if anything goes wrong!
I've seen some threads of people asking about turning off the seat belt chime. Also read that this was possible with PIWIS. Did some digging today after my annual oil change by browsing around on my Launch x431 running Porsche 23.60. So here is the guide to turn off your seat belt chime.
Select "Instrument Cluster"
Select "Code/brush Hiding"
Select "Brush Hidden/Modified". You can also select "Rule Coding", it's the same thing but it lacks the SEARCH feature of "Brush Hidden/Modified".
Select "Search For Coding Items", type in "belt" and select "OK"
Select the last menu item "Acoustic Belt Warning (Not USA, not Canada), change to "Not Active", then select "Write Code". This option will disable the seat belt chime.
To completely disable the seat belt warning, you need to also change to "Not Active" for "Driver seatbelt warning" and "Passenger seatbelt warning" Note that if you disable all 3 of these, the seatbelt light icon will never light up and the display will never show warning. I didn't like this so I have these 2 set to active. It will chime 3 times and the warning message will pop up, but the seatbelt chime doesn't sound when you drive off.
PLEASE REMEMBER TO ALWAYS WEAR YOUR SEATBELT!
This setting won't take effect right after you apply them. You need to turn off the car, get out, lock the car and wait 30 seconds.
6/22/21 Update: So turning off the seat belt chime has a bug. You will lose the park assist icon. The left side of the screen will be black if you have park assist turned on. At first, I thought it was some setting that I changed in the PCM. It wasn't until I enabled seat belt chime that Park Assist returned back to normal.
Always felt 3 flashes wasn't enough, so here it is on how to do it.
Select "Front-end Electronics" under System Selection. Select "Code/brush Hiding" then "Brush Hidden/Modified". Search for "flashing" and Select "One-touch flashing cycles"
Select the "3" under "Coding Valvue". A dialog box will pop up and you input the number of flashes you want.
I set mine to 5, then select "Write Code"
Enjoy your new one touch. This setting took effect immediately
When we first bought this car, I asked the dealer about this but the "brand ambassador" said this wasn't possible...
In the PCM module, there are a few hidden settings that we can turn on. They are mirror retract under Locking and center cooler under A/C in the car options menu.
These menus won't appear right after you apply them. You need to turn off the car, get out, lock the car and wait 30 seconds. There are some other features listed.
I changed my sidemarkers to clear years ago but never liked those canbus LEDs so ran the stock halogen 194 bulb. We can finally code it to know that the bulb is a LED and won't give a bulb out warning. Planning on getting a pair of Philips Ultinon in white.
You can also change if you want the sidemarkers to flash with the blinker or not.
I know there has been a lot of discussion of battery coding and that no one can get the iCarScan to work with it. Maybe we've been using it wrong the entire time. Instead of going into Special Functions, we need to go to the Gateway module and coding option. My battery is a little over 5 years old, so I'll be changing it soon and I bet this method will work. I'll report back!
I do have a pair of Canbus LEDs in there now, but I'm swapping to the Philips Ultinon
Update: I installed the Ultinon LEDs. Sometimes, there is a bulb out message at startup but it clears itself immediately. I went ahead and disabled the light out warning in the instrument cluster module. Workin fine.
I'm also looking to adjust the auto headlight sensitivity. I did some googling on this issue. I was able to locate the module under "Front-end Electronics">Coding>"RLS coding. Found references to RLS on VW forums as "rain light sensor", and they were talking about this is where the sensitivity level can be adjusted. They were also talking about changing the values for byte 1 and byte 2. We have the "threshold bit 0", "threshold bit 1", and "threshold bit 2". Unfortunately, inside those menus, it only has a Yes/No option. It was all default to No. I changed bit 0 to Yes last night, came home today to test but didn't notice any difference. My headlights auto turned on even thought it was pretty bright out at 6PM in NJ. I changed bit 0 back to NO, and changed bit 1 to YES. I will report back on this.
I also changed this option in RLS. It's initially set to 82 but I set it to 36%. Not sure what 550nm means. 550 nanometer??
I saw this menu item the other day and thought the name was interesting. Googling led me to VW forums about its feature. So when you spray your windshield, the wipers will wipe a few times. What teardrop wipe is, is that after the wipers stop, it will wait like 10 seconds and wipe 1 more time to get rid of the "teardrops". NEAT!
Lots of lots of lighting settings. This one is for the cornering light. We can set at what the minimum speed required for the the cornering lights to activate, how quickly it lights up, etc. Pretty interesting. We can also code it to LED so we can put in LED without worrying about the bulb out error message.
gabylonfive, I poked around in the Park Assist module. I don't have the surround camera but I believe you can adjust the setting. This was for the rear view camera I believe.
