Launch has an extension cable. About $10. My iCarScan scanner is pretty banged up. I bought 2 and put them on each of mine.

That's the one I used. It came with the launch x431 V+ kit I bought.

I have had something like that even with my PIWIS2 - i've gone in to change the wheel size and it won't write/save the changes. I'd be interested to see if I could change the rear number plate lights.
For anyone interested, you can get the next gen factory License Plate LEDs from China, and you just need a resister inline (or be able to write that code): https://www.aliexpress.com/item/3282...27424c4d0i7ahA

This is what I did, and I bought factory plugs and some big resisters and made a plug-and-play harness.

Here is what my iCarScan looks like after 5 years. I leave it on the extension now. Cheaper to replace extension cable than the connector.

LOL. It looks like it fell into the garbage disposal.

Hello,
This is not strictly coding but I don't see any other place where to put this.
In the Cayenne 958 Service Manual there is a procedure to check the engine oil level with the PIWIS tester. This is more accurate than the normal procedure with the instrument cluster screen and on top of that, it tells you how much oil you have to top to be at max level.

Here is the procedure:
WM 170101 CHECKING ENGINE-OIL LEVEL USING THE PIWIS TESTER (CAYENNE,
CAYENNE GTS, CAYENNE S HYBRID, CAYENNE S E, CAYENNE TURBO, CAYENNE
(3.0)) > CHECKING ENGINE-OIL LEVEL

Information
The PIWIS Tester II 9818 instructions take precedence and in the event of a discrepancy these are the
instructions that must be followed. Deviations may occur with later software versions.

1. PIWIS Tester II 9818 must be connected and ignition switched on.
2. Start the diagnostic program and select the required vehicle.
3. Select the DME control unit in the control unit overview. Press [F12] to continue.
4. Select the Maintenance/repairs menu. Press [F12] to continue.
5. Select the Oil filling function. Press [F12] to continue.
6. Start the engine and let it run until an engine oil temperature of 90° C is reached.Rev the engine if necessary to heat the engine oil to the specified temperature.
7.The oil level measurement process starts automatically as soon as the engine oil temperature
of 90° C is reached.
8. Switch off engine.
9. Add the quantity of oil displayed on the PIWIS Tester II 9818 .
10. Disconnect the PIWIS Tester.

With the X431 it is located in the "Oil filling" special function menu of the DME and here is how it works:

Test on going:

Result (0.9 liter to add):

Yes excellent post. That will be very helpful to all of us. And it's not a one and done. This will be used every time we change our oil.

Nice find - the standard check in the cluster is good but that procedure is great!

I also just bought 2 new genuine VW LED lights 1K8943021D which ill need to code into the car. Looks like they have a resister built into them.

Is there a part number for the dipstick? I can see the block off.

Guessing this would be a VW Audi part possibly? Found a possible part number: 059115611AM

I have a buddy who has a Subaru. On the Subaru, his obd2 is recessed in a pocket so the dongle wouldn't fit up in it. The kit comes with an obd2 extension cable. So I used the extension cable and sure enough I was able to get into the Subaru...

So I thought what the hell, I already had the tablet on why not try the cayenne with the extension cable and it worked. I unplugged the extension and plugged the dongle directly into the obd2 and nothing... Didn't work. Go back to the extension cable and got right in. Go figure. I never needed the extension before so I don't know what is up.

On a side note, I was able to get into the rear electronics module to change the number plate light to LED. It is set on no so I change it to yes, write code, it says coding successful, then I hit ok and it changes back to no. Damn it...

So I went into the instrument cluster and turned off the "number plate light out" warning light. That's not the best way to go about but at least the warning light won't keep bugging me. And the LED license plate lights look way better. I thought they might be too bright but they are not. They're perfect.
Interesting.... can you try to read off the tow module now too?
