Those OEM wheels drop the Factory delivered weight of your Early MY1999 below 2,900lbs, which is approaching 2.7 RS HP/weight territory.

Hold onto those freaking wheels.
Are these them?

I would not waste my time picking up a junk vehicle. There are plenty of Joe Sh*T The Rag Man on CL or Facebook marketplace offering that service !

Yes, original #408’s pop up on eBay or Rennlist from time to time; usually $3K - $4K. Worth the premium if you’ve got a MY1999 #408 build of course. If not IMO you’re better off with MUCH cheaper aftermarket lightweight alternatives (OZ, CCW, etc).

Pretty sure you have to split the case to replace them
Huh? What ? Nah....you don't even need to remove the trans, just drop the axels and pop the diff out the side and put new clutch disks in and pop it back in..

Most MY1999’s were either converted for track use or “drifted” into Encinitas, CA guardrails and dismantled. Given that existential rarity in general, I’d theorize to find a viable 3-pedal MY1999 #408 Coupe WITH the original wheels isn’t going to be easy. Easier fix to paint your wheels eh

(How rare are these wheels, really?)

Encinitas, CA seems to be the world epicenter of Buy-Here Pay-Here CL listings for triple-auctioned, triple-wrecked, Black/Graphite 996 Tiptronic Cabriolet’s for less than twelve thousand dollars. Fascinating

Judging by the Vin it's not an early car, no? I could be wrong.

I guess early is a relative term.
