My S/N is M96/0166X15601, but the full build sheet (available from Suncoast or Stuttcars for $10-20) indicates an original serial of 66W08070.

This says to me that my car (and yours) saw an engine replacement early (before the rebuilds were stamped with AT codes), as both serials are fairly low.

Perhaps @Flat6 Innovations or someone else can clarify? I've heard that some early 1999 builds needed replacements very early in life.
Definitely interesting
I always thought the date was the model year 🤷‍♂️

Thanks
Yes, it still has them
Car is stock except for Fister exhaust mod and aftermarket stereo.
Looking for someplace to remove the hideous Alpine/amp/subwoofer and replace it with a stock looking Continental stereo

This is the kit that I installed. Very easy, LCD looks good as new (if not better).

my car has a 3/98 built date. Anyway the funny thing is that when I call Porsche dealership for parts given the vin number they say is a 98, tittle insurance company and everything else say is a 99. I got a contact at a Porsche dealership that gives me shop price, he called me yesterday to let me know that my amp bracket just came in. I’m still missing the 6 cd changer the car came in with, my original cdr220 works fine. I just don’t know how to program the stations 😂.

Have the radio on the station you want then hold one of the bottom buttons 1-10 to save it. You'll hear a beep when it's saved correctly

I'm surprised your car has a 220. My 6/98 had a 210 originally.

I’ll try that. The stereo had a yellow sticker so I thinks it was refurbished. All the pixels and buttons look great. Previous owner or dealer kind of broke side stops so sometimes it comes out a bit, the previous owner or owners even left a cd some dark club music in it. So CD player works to. Amp was missing so I checked with Porsche, they gave me the part number, Nokia 6x40 I got one from LAD shipped to the house for $60. The wires for the cd changer are there but honestly I don’t know if the car came with it or not.

Should be listed as an option on your hood sticker

Pretty sure you have to split the case to replace them

Amazing. Those (incomprehensibly rare) narrow fitment BBS hollow spokes are the lightest 18”+ wheels ever offered on any Porsche. Ever. Lighter even than the fabled Carrera II Lightweights of MKII.

In twenty+ years I have found them remaining originally installed on only one MY1999 car. Bought it on the spot. And now yours! (Perhaps this will flush out other survivors??)

Those OEM wheels drop the Factory delivered weight of your Early MY1999 below 2,900lbs, which is approaching 2.7 RS HP/weight territory.

Hold onto those freaking wheels.

I did this a couple of weeks ago. Simple install, less than 45 minutes.

Someone powder coated my hollow turbo twist (option 408) wheels. Between that and being spec'd with LSD, should I just park my car on the side of the road and leave the keys in it?

(How rare are these wheels, really?)

If your car has GT1 head lights and a cable throttle, you're better off just junking it.
The hollow wheels are just proof positive your car belongs in the scrap heap being turned into a cube.
Sorry that's just science my man
