Prices Keep Drifting Up

I know that my electric panel can handle 1 additional 50A circuit to charge 1 EV, but with 4 people living here that are (pretty much) of driving age, I'm not sure I'd be able to keep them charged.
I wonder how many people are going to have to upgrade their service panel in order to charge their EVs.
Only 1 vehicle fits in my garage at the moment(my 996) but with a little work I could fit 2, but most likely that will be two ICE Porsches..
So I'd have to install the charger outdoors.
Then I'll have to shuffle vehicles in order to charge.
My wife does not want an electric vehicle...she has bad range anxiety.
My son won't give up his Mustang...but he may be out of the house in a couple of years
I'd like something EV if it will be fast and fun.
But the EV/Hybrids I've ridden in(Tesla, Volt, Prius) are not that exciting other than accelerating in a straight line.
I know eventually I'll likely be forced to have an EV...but now I just don't see myself getting one.
I started EV repair & maintenance training in 2021, and have decided it's not for me...once I go EV, I will no longer be repairing/maintaining my own vehicle.

Our last Tesla a 2018 was problem free and zero maintenance. I'll say again, zero maintenance, that's big and that's quality. And why not, they make many model changes/improvements within one year, they're not to be judged by model year. Latest standard range model 3 has a one million mile battery with relatively minor degradation. A kid can graduate high school, get that car and never buy another car, ever. Don't get me wrong, I prefer my ICE sports cars, but let's not be delusional about Tesla.
We bought a long range Tesla Model 3 in 2019. It's the wife's car and she has put 40,000+ miles on it so far. Living on Oahu it is the near perfect choice. No range anxiety (300+ mile range), level 2 charging overnight at home every 4 or 5 days, zero maintenance cost (check tire pressure monthly), no time wasted at gas stations waiting for a pump or at a dealer waiting on an oil change, relatively immune to rising gas prices. It handle great and goes like stink. No regrets.

FYI, just want to make sure you guys know that I am not dissing EV nor ICE. All I am doing is connecting the dots on what Porsche is doing and why, which ultimately will keep all our 996s on the road with clean burning biofuel. No doubt in my mind that there will be EV cars as well, but it will be the clean burning, fuel efficient hybrids that will be the workhorse. Sure, if someone figures out how to build a battery that can hold meaningful amounts of energy for extended periods of time, the need for a fuel efficient clean hybrid is not as great. But right now, no one has built that battery.

I had the same concerns until I got an EV of my own. Most of the the car isn't coming with a battery low enough to require a full 50a charge for a long time. It's a function of how many miles a day are driven. My family isn't doing a total of 800-1,000 miles a day, so we don't need 50a for 24 hours.

I don’t know a single Volt owner that is unhappy with their car. Never heard any complaints. I do have a friend who bought a bunch of Volt batteries to store solar panel power. He ended up getting all new batteries for free due to a recall.

Perhaps the 50\35 amp numbers is for an older version of the car.

you’ve got it. Fast charging is insane, I’ve seen 1,200 miles an hour. 20 mins to full basically.

Since 1995 I have only been pulled over once in a 911 (a 1999, 996)
82 in 25
Cop loved the car and gave me a warning
Edit: Actually I was once stopped on the Blue Ridge Pkwy in a 964 and the Ranger threw the book at me, and my 1957 VW Beetle round headlights. That alone is reason to love 996
