Prices Keep Drifting Up

1-key is all you need to know about a 911
No PPI required: run don’t walk
No PPI required: run don’t walk
It will be interesting.
That low mileage 1999 has a lot going for it and a few negatives.
7 owners, only 1 key, non-factory aerokit , missing amber headlights and 408 hollow spokes
None of the negatives would stop me from buying that 996 but I think it’s going to keep the price down.
But I could be wrong,…..

My statement included no assumptions or opinions. Porsche picks the car models and decides what is a 911.

It'll be interesting to think about these conversations 20 years from now and see which hold up well. The 911/930 certainly is timeless. The same shape has been used for 60+ years and if that isn't a testimony, nothing is.
You might be right about 997 and later models being dated. When I tell people my 996TT is 20+ years old they can't believe it.
I don't think Porsche or any other manufacture has found a way around emission standards to get around stopping emissions other than turning the engine off when you don't use it.

Porsche officially decided that "Turbo" is actually the name of one of their trim levels and not anything to do with forced induction. I'm sure you know all the base models are now turbocharged, in addition to EVs bearing the "Turbo" and "Turbo S" moniker.
It is a bold move, that I believe, if any other car manufacturer tried to do they would be laughed at and have to reverse course. But Porsche will get away with it.
Edit: Thinking about it now. In a few years, once the ICE engine is pretty much gone, so will be the word Turbo. It will lose it's true meaning and just become a Porsche trim level. Smart move by Porsche.

Bummer, wish he covered more on the 996 model range specifically. Far too much variability in the 911 (generationally, model, option, color, mileage) for him to really cover it all in the scope of this video. He did a "deep dive" into the 996 earlier but it would have been nice to see an update to that including all models. I did say many years ago that the 997.2 will be the next "993" (notice the quotes); or the closest thing since. It's entirely possible that the 996 buyer demo (not in totality obviously) could be the first to feel the "pinch" of inflation and therefore "begin to cool"; just guessing here. And as much as values have come up, lets not kid ourselves, the 996 is still the lowest cost barrier to entry.

We witnessed the 996 dip in prices over the past few months as the market consolidated, of which we then saw a reversal last week with prices going back up.
As JP Morgan once said when he was asked what the market was going to do, he said, "it will fluctuate" .
As a side note, the guy produces some insightful videos.

Good videos from that guy. I wonder if he has analyzed the effect of seasonal variation on car prices.
