Big day today with the 996.1 C4 Coupe on BAT. Let's see where this one goes. The narrow body C4 in general is a pretty cool car.
Plenty of bargains with well maintained 996s in local markets, but BAT is a national, don't have to take the time to look, immediate gratification purchase. Therefore prices are higher. Nothing wrong with a BAT purchase, but you still have to perform due diligence on the car.
Inflation came in at 7.5% this morning. Many of you old timers remember the 70s and 80s. We have engineered a freeking macro economic mess.
But I like the 996.

There is also another really nice looking 996.2 coupe that just got listed. Low miles and all of the mods seem pretty tame.

DDemuro just posted a somewhat logical discussion of this madness. He stated there is simply far too much demand now for collectible cars, and that only new & used car supply can (eventually) increase to meet demand
Conversely, collectible car supply can only decrease, and thus over time, the supply of collectible cars will continue to be even more severely outstripped by increasing demand
Hence prices for collectibles will still sharply increase over time; regardless of (inevitable) new & used car market corrections
IE the new & used car markets will eventually find equilibrium. But the collectible market cannot
Every year there will be more bidders on Classic 911's. And every year there will be less Classic 911's to bid on. Forever

This is an awesome car. Paint is flawless. Anyway I just read this article on yahoo finance. Year over year used car prices have gone up 40 percent. My only advice would be if someone was considering selling this maybe the right time to do it. New car prices have only increased 12 percent. That’s why In December I traded my wife’s 2016 Mercedes for the 2021 mb suv, got a bunch more $ for the trade that it was worth 2 years ago. Cool that alcohol has only increased 2.5 percent.
