So long as they haven't sold the car.

Three points:
1. Some dealers did not sell any 918 cars
2. only a % of 918 buyers are likely to order the new RS, Maybe 20% about 180 buyers?? Your guess?
3. iv'e been told that sales to 918 buyers do not
count against dealer allocations.
So, there is a lot to yet be determined. First of which, how many will be available and what will be the pecking order.
Maybe a good time to see your Fortune Teller.

On #3 - I heard the same, or otherwise no RS for me.

Yup. It's my understanding that it's first MY will be 600 cars. Probably another 600, or more if interest is super high (PAG likes money, and these aren't numbered), for the 2nd MY before killing off the 991.1 line for good (replacing it with the 991.2, a short break, and then another GT3 -> GT3 RS).
So long as they haven't sold the car.

Two years ago at not long after March 2013 Geneva lamuch of 991 GT3, Goodwood AP told a UK pistonhead member in an off record conversation that 2500-3000 x 991 GT3 would be built. The conversation was documented on Pistonheads board. Despite the engine replacement stop sale today it indeed looks like around 3000 will have been built with approximately 50% going to the USA. Despite us all thinking the plan would change it did not and this is because there was a business case and supplier commitments sitting behind it. The suppliers would have damage penalties if the volume forecast was not reached as the pwrts prices would be elevated for shorter runs.
Today, March 2015 and nothing for the 991 GT3RS has changed IMO. They will also have made forecast on suppliers witha greed price per unit a long time ago.
Number like 600 are a). North America only number, b). someone else s speculation.
All IMO of course.

But let me give you a way out of your tough predicament...please think of 'Lava Orange' or 'UltraViolet' as PTS (for which all practical purposes they are), give you money to a dealer that will sell you a 991 gt3 RS at MSRP and then declared total victory...like in the glory days at your old school!

Take a seat, Trojan, and make yourself comfortable. First, your money doesn't go to PAG or PCNA. It goes to the Porsche dealer first. They are the ones that buy from PAG/PCNA, not you. So the 'at MSRP' part depends on your relationship with your dealer(s). And you'll have a while to wait for true PTS (me thinks) on the 991 gt3 RS.

Unfortunately I'm not a big fan of stealerships so I don't have a relationship with any of them. I like to buy my cars used because I hate paying sales tax on my car purchases. I'll only make an exception for a PTS 991 RS or maybe a non-PTS Vesuvio 991 RS so that it matches my other RS.
