Consolidated 991RS thread

I'd expect a 991.2 GT3, and a 991.2 GT3 RS, and maybe even a true limited edition (numbered) 991.2 GT3 RS to end the 991.2 generation when it gets replaced by the 992 closer to 2019/2020.

The very cool-looking air vents on the front fenders are not actually making the car quicker (otherwise they would have been used on the RSR), nor the side air openings of the 991 Turbo (with their initial purpose of cooling the intercoolers). At top speed the side openings actually increase drag which is not good for the top speed. The wheels and tyres measure exactly the same as on the 918 Spyder: fronts are 9.5x20" with 265/35 tyres and rears 12.5x21" with 325/30 tyres. Because of its 1.4" / 36 mm wider body, wider track (+50 mm front/+30 mm rear), larger wheels (0.5" wider front and rear, 1" larger diameter at rear) and standard roll cage, the RS is heavier than the non-RS and has only 18 kW more power to compensate on that. The front lid, front wings and rear lid are made of CFRP (carbon fibre reinforced plastic) and the roof constructed using magnesium!
Similarly the RSR takes high pressure air from the flanks, and it makes sense that the RS's wider rear fenders would increase the pressure of that area and make it more attractive. Thus I expect those will make the car faster as well.
I don't believe the RSR has a standard roll cage either.

No one here knows for sure, but I'd expect it to be more like the 997 generation, if not even more fleshed out.

Fender vents were used on the 997 GT3 R and are likely to be seen again based on this video (incorrectly titled) of the new GT3 R undergoing testing.
Would love to drive Algarve someday. Looks amazing.
