Started the diagnostic algorithm for hard start/occasional erratic idle. Found both wires at the NTC Temp II Sensor bare, and the entire top of the wire harness bent. Checked resistance at pins when cold and warm - symmetric and within spec. Re-spliced, protected and re-attached. So far starts well and idle not erratic. Will monitor.

Got new Sun Roof seals Friday and started the removal. I expected the worst because the PO had done some "custom caulking" around the interior of the roof liner. The WSM's through a curve ball on page 60-1 showing only 3 points to unscrew(Step 3) instead of 4 that are shown correctly on page 60-2 for Installation, the second Step 1 ???. It looks like they mixed the pictures up because the screw on page 60-1 is for adjusting alignment.
Anyways, after realizing the roof wasn't going to come out no matter how hard I pulled I figured out the above and it came out without issue. The current roof panel has all kinds of paint problems so I'm going to get it re-sprayed before reinstalling. I'm also ordering the Hans & Paul Illuminated Switch since my existing switch is toast.
I originally planned on refurbing the entire drive mechanism but it runs nice and smooth so I will leave the sleeping dog lie. This was a great exercise and I definitely took more crap apart than needed to but I cleaned a lot of crud out and found a few roof liner fasteners broken and had to repair cardboard liner so fasteners worked. Next time I'm in there things will go way faster.

Repaired a bad leak at the rear window. It was in the lower left corner. I cut out a section of the window glue/sealer, then replaced it with some Permatex silicone sealer/adhesive. I'm sure it'll hold. Also replaced the hatch seal since it was leaking on the seats whenever I washed the car ($$).
The rear window setup is not a very good design. Not sure how the water really gets out of the channel under the black trim since there are no drain holes. I guess it just sits there and eventually dries or gets blown out by movement of the vehicle. At least the window trim is easily removed and replaced... pops right out and right back in.

I put the bracket and the rubber mount back on above the exhaust tip. Fell off on the tailpipe and stayed there sometime during last weekends 150 mile cruise in the mountains. The luck continues.

Drove home in third gear after front shift ball cup disintegrated. Oh well, it was 28 years old, so I had that coming. Got home, parked it, then later put it on my garage lift, only to notice that I had a flat tire as well. Bummer...
So for now the to do list does not get any shorter...

I started out replacing a burst heater hose (to the evaporator from the heater valve) and a leaky PS hose from the reservoir to the pump, about a week and a half ago.
With the alternator off and PS pump accessible, I was reminded how much I hated driving this car with collapsed engine mounts, and while I could access some of the crossmember bolts, the job morphed into dropping cross member to install mounts, new oil pan gasket, and set of oil pan bolts I re-plated.
While the crossmember was off, I thought "hmm.. now's a good time to get at the upper a-arm bolts", so now the front suspension is all in pieces too, being cleaned, replacing torn boots and checking/repacking front wheel bearings.
And, while the front suspension is off, I may as well disassemble the factory coilovers and replace the shocks with Bilsteins..
Gotta love WYAIT disease, combined with a parts-hoarding problem![Big Grin](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Once the front is all back together I'll have a look and see if I can get the pins out for the rear suspension, to do the rear shocks too. But they might wait until the car's back on the road and I get ready to do TT bearings.

Sometimes just fixing the little things that only do take a few seconds to do gives very good satisfaction, like replacing my old and a bit broken wiper end plastic caps (928 628 623 01):

Today I adjusted the folding wing. That's right, my 87 has the folding rear wing, and is used to rattle when driving over bumps. Most people seem to be of the opinion that folding wings rattle.
Well, no more! The locking mechanism is adjustable, and mine is now fixed dead solid to the rear hatch when locked.
I encourage all 87 owners to do this!
I guess I will have to start working on the automatic front grille blinds thingy now.
