Fixed the duct taped mirror properly, sat in it, stuck my finger in the slime on the inside of the windshield in hopes that tomorrow I can get time to re-assemble the broken bits and get the tt out!

Yesterday stripped cam belt covers off, checked water pump (still as new) likewise tensioner pulley, both replaced at last belt change...., opened my Gates,s box, only to discover I,d been sold a round tooth belt instead of a square tooth,. Have to wait till Monday now.... ! Grrrrrr ..!

Spun the oil pump to check for oil to the heads with the oil cooler lines disconnected

Some months ago I had to repair my speedometer, which entailed removing the pointer. After checking against my Satnav at various speeds I found that it was reading 5mph low at every speed.

So this morning I removed the instruments from the pod and moved the needle on the spindle by a estimated amount. i.e a guess

Went out for a test drive, the error now is less than 2mph at any speed :-)

By removing one cable tie to free the cable form, and unplugging the three edge connectors, I found it was possible to tip the pod over clear of the steering column without having to unplug all the switches. Then it was easy to undo the 9 small screws and then remove the instrument assembly

Got home from the beach and was all set to investigate HVAC venting and HCV issue because AC is not always blowing full cold in front versus rear unit. I put on my service curtains and that is when the fun began.

Into my garage walks annoying neighbor who inquires what I am doing. I assure him all is fine and tell him I’m about to work on the MAF reticulator. He nods authoritatively because he drives a Mini-van. He gets bored and wanders off. A couple of beers later another neighbor wanders in and inquires. I was tempted to be an *** and describe some fabulous mechanical feat but said all was fine and was just hanging out with my car.

In actuality, I didn’t do a damn thing other than put on the service curtains and admire her. Truth be told I knew jack about 928s 18 months ago other than I wanted one. Without this forum I’d be no where.

You should have called. I have a similar issue (but it's intermittent). Would have been good to have learned something about our cars today...

I washed, waxed and dressed the interior with new stuff. Put it under cover in garage and will drive it on special days this summer. Getting too flipin hot and dont like her getting sun burnt at work.

PS: Don't sell until you really think about it for 2 weeks. Maybe drink or smoke something. That seems to work.

Other PS: congrats with sale.

Pulled my RBF engine and will start the dismantling process. Crossing my fingers that the block is good, but i doubt it. Too many chunks of metal came out of the oil pan plug. Most likely looking for a new block for an '89.

That really sucks man. I never heard the details leading up to what happened, but what matters is min damage.

Changed all 4 wheel bearings...that is a days work now that we have 100 + degree temps...any by the way, why is the bad wheel bearing always the 4th one you change? I know, I needed to do them all anyhow...just lamenting and once again recollecting Murphy's law(s)

The SIR B-90 tool is a life saver for the rear bearings...the fronts pretty much need a HF 10 or 12 ton press, as well as a lathe to make various sized adapters to press in the new outer races, as well as the seal.

Not much today.
Got my State's inspection sticker.
Addressed my 3rd brake light loose connection at the bulb.
Addressed my rear hatch intermittently opening using the nylon ties over the motor's cam - pleasantly surprised how it worked.

Test fitted a new LCD clock and display into the OEM digital clock case - but it is upside down in this pic:



Alternative is a LED - will make one of each and then decide. Test fitting of LED:



Both clocks have two +ve feeds. One is for clock time. Second differs. LCD clock is visible with daylight, and has optional back-lighting to connect to original lighting circuit for night. LED needs to have power to second circuit to be visible at any time, so would need ignition-dependent feed instead.
