Default no more tape deck

Well I started at 9 this morning and just finished now, 11 hours and 45min.

I installed an Alpine 126BT head unit a KTP-445 booster in the factory booster location. And Alpine speakers.

And it sounds great, too bad the family is asleep or I would crank it up.

Thread with pictures coming, too tired to download them now.

Default More work ahead!

Today I took delivery of a Flowmaster HP-2 Shorty resonator. This is to replace the existing middle muffler. I just hope it won't make the overall sound too loud...

It has been a 928 kind of week already!

My '78 was delivered to Kevin in PA for some paint work. He reports that the car is VERY NICE and that the PO took quite good care of it! I could not be happier about this...especially considering it is one of the oldest automatic 928's in the country! It will be one of the nicest when Kevin, Robert Budd and Jim Doerr of 928 Classic's get done doing their work on my baby!

My good friend Grant Fowler received his '88 S4 Silver/black (thanks Chris F!!!!) and this car is AMAZING! I am not even kidding it has one of the nicest interiors I have seen in a VERY LONG TIME (at least on a car that does not belong to me! LOL!) and he could not be happier about it!

TODAY, another good 928 friend of mine Darin M (former owner of RKD's BEAUTIFUL Iris Blue GTS) picked up my '95 GTS from the shop I bought it from! I told him to drive the hell out of it so he will know it like the back of his hand before he starts the long trip to TX in it a week from tomorrow!!! YEE HA!

I love 928's!!!!!

A few long smoky burnouts before I get new rear tires. The tires I got a few weeks ago had uneven wear from improper toe settings on the PO car. Figure they are junk so why not make some 11's on the road. Along with some 66's and some 99's and a couple 14's (really tough to do these). PSD was on and just kept going and going with both tires. Love a perfectly running 928.

Default Provent Installation

Working in progress of my (new to me) custom Provent installation with return air out of the oil separator going back to the intake.

I partially sacrificed the air pump (no longer used) filter intake housing and made a part of the Provent mounting location

Replaced the K-1 assembly in the '89, and replaced the ATF with Dexron6. Afterward, I could not make the transmission replicate it's previous ability to shift itself totally out of gear and not shift back into a gear again until I put it in Park. This had been a recurring problem when i had reun it hard (always), and I began to believe that it was somehow related to the 2-3 transmission flaring problem I had with the GTS. I thought that maybe this was just transmission flaring to a higher degree. I replaced the same valve (about a 30 minute job) and the problem seems to, at least for now, have gone away.

I also replaced the stock S-4 horns with older trumpet style horns, just cuz I like the older horns. Sound more Porsche to me.

Drove it for the first time in three weeks. $76 to fill up w gas and a quick jaunt down the Bodega highway for an Italian style tune up. It ran great and I remembered why I'm obsessed with 928s. I've got some Leatherique on the way to do some spring cleaning and a re-dye kit for the new to me manual seats (I'm 6'4" and could use an extra inch or so of headroom).

Cool

Wasted (um... I guess I mean "spent") a lot of time today cleaning up my wheels, which I hadn't really maintained all that well for the past year or so.

Had to deal with some minor cosmetic blemishes, which cleaned up pretty well with Glanol and lots of elbow grease (not too easy to get into the "corners"; had to use a wood shim to get enough pressure on the rags to get the job done).

From this:

to this:

The centers are getting a little banged up, but I guess they're not too bad for the ten years or so that I've had them.

Of course, there was a WYAIT to deal with: the calipers were filthy (sorry, no "before" photos). So... had to clean them up, too. They're holding up pretty well, too; I think it's also been about ten years since I put the Big Reds on the front and refinished the rears.

Finally got the wheels back on and the car off jack stands for the first time in at least a week.

Of course, it had to be raining, so no outdoor beauty shots for now.

Tightened up the bowden cable and adjusted the vacuum modulator on the tranny. Big differance in the shifting now, very smooth. Wash and wax.

Took some new pic's too
