Took apart my passenger side door.
Re-glued floppy liner.
Replaced inoperative window motor.
Decided that the inventor of that motor was clearly related to Mengele.
Now heading to the B-52's and Squeeze--but in the DD--928 still needs air fixed and driver's window support fixed.

Replaced Thermostat, Seal and O-Ring and Temp II sensor. Need to flush the coolant tomorrow.

Can't seem to find Zerex G05. Checked AAP and Wal-Mart. Going to check Napa and PepBoys.

Anyone suggest running Prestone Flush also or just running water from the hose?

Got my rebuilt rack from Frank Barnhill the other day and it looks great. The steering shaft spline had a few love marks on it so I started to clean them up a bit. More to go but nothing major.

Looking for a Rack and Delrin Bushing swap next weekend with a couple of local 928 owners. It's frickin hot as Hades in NC right now so there will be beer o plenty to keep us from dehydrating.

Used Prestone Flush in my DD and no word of a lie the temp guage now runs (and has for a few months) left of center. This includes when using AC.

Over the weekend i installed a $200 "test pipe" which sounds like crap until fully warmed up but does add some usable power. I replaced the throw out bearing lever ball cup bushing, blew all the dust out of the clutch assembly and adjusted the 3 intermediate plate stop forks which were way out. I sprayed some Wurth bearing grease into the TO bearing and applied small amounts of optimoly HT similar lube as required. The shifting is much better and power is definitely up a bit with the test pipe although i may modify and wrap it for better sound/ temperature.

I forgot, Friday i removed everything associated with the air pump, re torqued all oil sump bolts which were finger tight practically, found a missing air con bolt and replaced, i removed the charcoal canister and installed a smaller battery. I have only owned 911s and always wanted a 928 and finally found a decent 1 owner low mile car right up the road..Slate blue '83 S 5 speed with navy interior and 60k miles. I have every service record from the bill of sale. These really are great cars, way more rigid than my '86 carrera and rides like a caddy in comparison.

Replaced the old fuel tank cradle with one from 928spares.co.uk,
and gave her a proper wash...

Replaced the D.Side rear stabilizer arm which was broken.
Tomorrow: Start cleaning all ground points and fuse panel connections.

Day after: Tranny fluid change and replace cooler hoses
Check TB tension, replace all vac hoses, then change v.cover gaskets.
Replace steering column bshg......oy.

Began preparation for rack replacement by checking the Pirtle print out and required tools. As background, my home consists of 3 Girls, a wife and a female dog. This is what I found in my tool box( hair clip, iPhone cover and a "female" eye glass case.

As much as the odds are stacked against me with overwhelming estrogen I'm swapping the Rack tomorrow while surely being heckled by the family for being a macho man. Hopefully my breasts won't be too tender to complete the install.

Tomorrow: drive around town.

Sunday: drive to San Antonio.

Replaced Rack and Bushings per Pirtle instructions. Great instructions and straight forward. Thanks John! Not a difficult job but I'm just coming off a TT and Tranny Mount replacement so everything is relative.

My only enhancement to the Pirtle instructions is to get both fluid line Banjo bolts re-fastened prior to tightening the rack and reinforcement plate. The flexible power steering line has enough play to get finger tightened with everything tightened but the aluminum tube line (forward most) and Banjo bolt didn't cooperate until I re-loosened Rack bolts and Reinforcement bolts.

All is good now and I actually have Power Steering since I picked her up. My Rack must have been more hosed than I thought. Brakes are next.

Reinstalled ac head after replacing relay. Which was fine. Feel terrible about every little deviation from stock on the 86.5. Had a Doerr hommage moment though, spending an hour and many, many q-tips and substances burnishing the already fairly clean center vent..
