16's bog standard, high 13's with chip, exhaust, pads, suspension and geo - it's standard-ish, but in 'fine fiddle'........

Thanks Paul. Makes more sense.

Anyone noticed since Matt told me off for talking too many numbers all anyone on here has been doing is talking lap times and multiple decimal places ;-P

Must be catching on....

I'm happy to pay a premium for tires that are readily available in the right compounds.
I used the new compound DZ03G's on the 996tt on SITT and liked them a lot. After last weekend I like 221's better, but the Dunlops would be the next best thing. Tried them on 944 and didnt like them, but old stock and different compound.

Did he change the suspension? I didn't realize. One thing that helped a lot, I suspect, was the DZ03Gs instead of the cheap-o Federal 595RS-Rs he was running early on.

The race prepped ones' times were set during a 6 or 12 hour enduro but were the only times I could source a few years ago. On stickier rubber in a sprints or time attack scenario I suspect they'd be at least a second or two faster. They could probably take some extra boost too for a quick few laps, with that putting further premium on driving talent too.

Very true. I did see some receipts from last year where they were trying to suss out what the issues with the clutch were. Hence I didn't go too overboard with my bid so I had a maintenance buffer.
I'll get there eventually finding a new car!

Looked 100% stock suspension when I had my head under it 8 weeks ago. I didnt realise he had done a chip. Dean said exhaust mods.

Walt. Good point about sprint vs enduro.

Chris great to get your views on the Dunlops. No point in paying 30% more for less if the Z221 do the job I guess....

962 is mega. I have the Spark 1:18 dauer version (yellow). Its all I can afford. Love it.

Not good news for the NITT

From Brian @ Megatyres

i understand your concerns as to continuity of supply but there really is no serious issue. value tyres are known to carry the heaviest stocks of tyres in new zealand but even they get into "out of stock situations" on occasions.

yes, the 265 35 18 tyre is currently out of stock, but i can confirm that the tyres are DEFINATELY on order. while i am always loathe to commit to dates when i do not know what they are, it is reasonable to assume that these tyres will be shipped in the next 2 to 8 weeks. i do not believe there is a problem here.

underscoring all of the above is the high regard value tyres ltd places on their porsche club business; they will nothing to jeopardise it and neither will i.

as regards your inquiry today for hankook z221 tyres, i can confirm availability as follows:
- size 225 45 17 is out of stock and not currently on order. there is some suggestion that it will not be reordered, you are welcome to provide feedback on this.
- 235 45 17 $399.95 (regret i can not remember what you said back in february about the acceptability of this size)
- 255 40 17 $425.00

Thanks John. As you will know I have been talking with Brian today. I have ordered two front tyres and the last 265 rear in 18 and will purchase a partner for it from Australia and ship it over as I have little faith the Hankook shipment referred to will make our shores before NITT.

Its disappointing to hear the 225 17 could be discontinued. This is the only tyre you can realistically use at the front on a 7 or 7.5J rim. Basically this would affect all 964 running in our group as well as Paul in this 993. Lap times would be affected.

I suggest you look to Australia for your supplies. Tirerack does not carry this model. Ill let you know how I get on with my Australian supplier...

Looks like the 235 45 17 could be Medium Compound.

Brian must be wondering what's going on, because Chris M has been through for 19" tyres today as well.

I'm a bit stuck here. I can't make my current tyres last if I do track days prior to the NITT and I'm not interested in running slower laps on other brands.
