Oh, a friend has imported a 964 C4 which he plans to take 200kgs out of, including making it 2wd and getting rid of the impact bumpers.

Well the money has left my bank account so I guess it's as good as time as any to introduce the new ride. Ex-US car that's coming from New York to New Zealand to plan a run at Classic 2WD Targa next year.

Sorry for the funny photo sizes.

Here's the specs you all want to know:

Suspension – Moton 3 way suspension, Monoballs, Adjustable motons, adjustable sways
Clutch – Tilton, Lightweight 7.25 inch double disk
Power steering - Electric- pump from 996 cup
Fuel tank -26 gallon fuel tank (993)
Wheels - 9 x 18 and 10.5 x 18 BBS Motorsport wheels with gold centers

Great looking set up. Just for the sound and HP it's worth it but 20kg is a lot to save off an exhaust too! Nice.

Not sure at the moment. I'm waiting on shipping details. Hopefully in time to run it in the Targa Rally sprint at the start of march but that may be optimistic...

That would be awesome. If so I'll be spectating (and anyone else who'd like to come over) as one of the sprint legs is staging just down the road and will be storming past our place.

You're moving in down South AKL? Nice.

If not I will run the other car anyway. Fingers crossed it won't get too chipped in a short event like that.

I'm outside of Puke so if you need anything let me know. I have a lock up there with all my tools and spares so if you need to use that for any work on the car while you're getting set up you're welcome to too.

Race car values are based on providence more than being matching numbers, as many race cars get upspec'ed and modified with a bigger engine during their racing life. When they are a race car, matching numbers doesn't win races (only concourses)

Yes - worth more being matching numbers, but not the end of the world, but would be worth more it if had a famous owner (say Paul Newman) or had won races. What is the current engine in it - is it a cup engine / RS engine or just a road going 3.6 engine??

You can road register anything - as long as it meets the NZT requirements. I don't think cup cars have hand brakes, so I lot of changes necessary to make it comply.

Thinking about it - even if not matching numbers, a C2 converted into a race car (typically a Jap typo) is still worth $50-65K depending on spec and condition, so paying another $15K to say you own a 'cup car' seems good value. Assuming the mechanical is all good, why not just freshen up the paint job and race against Steve's 964 beast..........
For some reason I didnt think you could register 996 Cup Cars?

Yep, nice one with the new exhaust Matt. Your chassis will make better use of each of those those HP than mine I'm sure. Next sprints at HD they should be able to hear the lot of us clear across the Bombays...

Nic - C4's don't have impact bumpers ( unless back dated to look like an 80's Porsche??)

Congrat's Sean - what's the HP and weight?

You may have a challenge complying this for the road as it's not stock, but I'm sure Steve and you will have a cunning plan.

Nice wheels Sean. Will be interested to see how the import process pans out and hear how you came to find it. When you back in NZ? I'm in UK right now - used to live here, and visiting reminds me why I love home so much.

Peter: I'd love a black on black turbo. This one seems a bit scant on info and relatively high mileage - not always a bad thing. Just counting back the Turbos on the market in the last while since mine: cobalt blue 3.3; aqua (?) green 3.3; oak green 3.3; midnight blue 3.6; red 3.6; now this black 3.3.

Did the midnight on matador red 3.6 sell?
